🌿 DAY 4 — 7 DAYS • 7 STORIES
“Half the month was lost to pain.”
A young woman, but every month her life seemed to shrink around her cycle.
For around half of each month, she was dealing with significant pain from endometriosis.
The inflammation, the heavy bleeding, the exhaustion… it wasn’t simply about having a “bad period”.
She had been prescribed medication by her GP, despite this, there were still days when getting through work and normal life felt incredibly difficult.
She was taking time off work.
She was exhausted.
And her body seemed to be dictating what she could and couldn’t do.
When we started working together, we looked at her as a whole person, not simply at her symptoms.
We incorporated reproductive reflexology alongside looking at diet, lifestyle, rest, energy levels and the different phases of her cycle.
Gradually, things began to change.
Her bleeding reduced.
Her pain became much more manageable.
She had more energy during the times of her cycle that had previously wiped her out.
And she wasn’t needing to take the same amount of time off work.
But perhaps the biggest change wasn’t a reduction in a symptom.
It was the relationship she began to have with her own body.
She started to recognise the different phases of her cycle.
To notice what her body was telling her.
To understand when she needed more rest, when she needed nourishment, when she could push a little more, and when she really needed to listen.
She stopped seeing her cycle as something she had to endure.
She became more attuned to it.
More aware. More empowered
And more able to work with her body rather than constantly pushing against it.
Her endometriosis hadn’t disappeared.
But she understood her body in a completely different way.
And sometimes, that is where real change begins.
Not in ignoring what your body is telling you, but in finally learning how to listen. 🤍
Every symptom has a story
Let’s learn to listen 🌿
