Dundee Carers Centre

Dundee Carers Centre We aim to improve the lives of carers, young carers and disabled people through practical and emotional support

03/09/2026

We are proud to be one of several organisations across Scotland to receive funding from SGN to provide information and advice to unpaid carers.

This support enables us to encourage sign-ups to the Priority Services Register, provide access to carbon monoxide monitors, and offer advice on fuel poverty and benefit entitlement checks.

We were also pleased to attend the networking event organised by SGN at Tynecastle Park in Edinburgh, where we connected with other organisations delivering similar support through this funding.

Time to Live is a funding programme of the Short Breaks Fund delivering microgrants directly to unpaid carers, supporting the right breaks at the right time.

We have allocated 60% more Time To Live microgrants in 2025-2026, so what does that actually mean? 28,70 carers and cared for people have benefitted. From pursuing hobbies, like photography, dancing and fitness to enjoying social activities like bowls and art. Exploring new places by taking a short trip or simply having quiet time to rest. These microgrants give unpaid carers space that can be difficult to find on their own.

A Huge Thank You to Our Kiltwalk Heroes! 👟

We'd like to say a massive thank you to everyone who took part in the Kiltwalk 2026 and chose to raise funds for Dundee Carers Centre.

This year, a fantastic group of supporters took on The Wee Wander, raising around £145, while another determined walker completed the Mighty Stride, raising an incredible £100 for unpaid carers in our community.

The participant who walked the Mighty Stride shared why they chose Dundee Carers Centre as their charity:

"I wanted to raise money for Dundee Carers because I had a family member who looked after my grandparents, so I wanted to do something to show how much I appreciate all that carers do, as it is not easy. My quote from that day, and what I take from it, is that you can do anything you put your mind to. I wanted to challenge myself and prove that I could complete the 20K Kiltwalk."

We're incredibly grateful to everyone who laced up their walking shoes, took on the challenge, and named Dundee Carers Centre as their chosen charity. Every mile walked and every pound raised helps us continue supporting unpaid carers across our local communities.

Interested in taking part next year? Keep following our social media channels for future Kiltwalk announcements and opportunities to get involved!
