Thank you to Marieta and the DE&I group at the Dundee Customer & Colleague Engagement Centre at Tesco Call Centre, for inviting us along to their Carers Week event for colleagues. The aim of the event was to raise awareness, provide support, and create a space where carers feel recognised, understood, and empowered.

We had the opportunity to chat will staff who came down on their break and protective time to find out more about what Dundee Carers Centre is and what support is available to unpaid carers

The session allowed us to share knowledge and practical advice for carers, highlight available support and resources and inspire open conversations around caring responsibilities.

🔦Locality Spotlight: Westend Connecting Carers Café & Drop-in

This month, we’re shining a light on the Westend Connecting Carers Café at Blackness Library, who meet on the 2nd Monday of each month (plus a drop-in every other Monday), Blackness Library, 10.30am – 12.30pm

This friendly group offers unpaid carers a chance to connect, share, and feel supported.
We spoke with Pat, Katriana, and Janice about why they attend—and why it matters:

"If it was a hard day you can think to yourself ‘Well I’m going to the group on Monday… Someone is always happy to listen – they’re just such a group of lovely people."

Today we publish ‘Building Carer Friendly Communities: a blueprint’, setting out our vision for creating communities where unpaid carers are recognised, valued and supported.

The blueprint offers practical guidance on how to create carer friendly communities across health, social care, education, employment, business and services, and out and about in the wider community.

This June, Roxanne from St Paul’s Episcopal Cathedral Dundee, is skydiving to celebrate her 40th birthday and raise funds for Dundee Carers Centre.

Roxanne was a young carer herself (though she didn’t realise it at the time) and is passionate about supporting unpaid carers across Dundee.

For Volunteers’ Week 2026, we hosted a special event to celebrate our amazing volunteers.

Each person brings unique skills and plays a vital role in shaping the work of Dundee Carers Centre. Over the past year, more than 1,140 hours of volunteering have been recorded—an incredible contribution. Their dedication and commitment make a real difference and are truly appreciated.
