Last week, Georgia attended a Heartstart training session alongside members of the Volunteer Coordinators Network, learning vital CPR and emergency life support skills that could one day help save a life. 🫀👏

The session also highlighted the importance of the What3Words app 📱, which can help ambulance and emergency services find you quickly if you're unsure of your exact location. It's free, easy to use, and could make a real difference in an emergency. We encourage everyone to download the app today ✅.

Heartstart sessions are free and open to everyone, providing practical, life-saving knowledge in just a couple of hours. ⏰💙

🎨✨ The Big Reveal! ✨🎨

After weeks of creativity, collaboration and hard work, we're incredibly proud to finally unveil the finished mural created by our young people as part of our Summer Programme art project in partnership with Hot Chocolate Trust and artist Zoe Gibson.

What started as character sketches, creative workshops and brainstorming sessions developed into a vibrant community artwork that reflects the young people's interests, ideas and personalities. Over two days, the group worked together to stencil, paint and bring their designs to life, transforming a city centre wall into something truly special.

The result is a fantastic piece of public art that the young people can be proud of for years to come. 💜

If you'd like to see the mural for yourself, you'll find it at Rankine's Court, at the top of Castle Street in Dundee City Centre. Be sure to stop by and have a look at the incredible work these talented young people have created! 🎨

This project has given our young people the opportunity to develop new skills, build confidence, make new connections and leave a lasting mark on their city. We couldn't be prouder of everything they have achieved.

🎨✨ Summer Programme Finale: Bringing Our Mural to Life! ✨🎨

After weeks of creativity, planning and design sessions with Hot Chocolate Trust and artist Zoe Gibson, the time finally came for our young people to bring their ideas to life on a wall in Dundee city centre!

Over two action-packed days, the group worked together to transfer their enlarged designs onto the wall using stencils before getting stuck into the painting process. From the very first sketches and character designs to seeing their artwork take shape on such a large scale, the young people have shown incredible creativity, commitment and teamwork throughout the project.

The hard work, patience and enthusiasm from everyone involved has been amazing to see, and we're so proud of what the group has achieved. 💜

This project has given our young people the opportunity to develop new artistic skills, build confidence, work collaboratively, and leave their mark on the city in a truly meaningful way.

🎨🖌️ Summer Programme Trip #5: Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA) 🖌️🎨

Our fifth Summer Programme trip took us to Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA) for the second design session of our exciting art project in partnership with Hot Chocolate Trust.

Led once again by the brilliant Zoe Gibson, our young people got creative by designing and making their own handmade stamps based on some of their favourite things. They then put their designs to use, creating unique prints on tote bags and exploring different ways to express their ideas through art.

As part of the day, we were also given a fascinating tour of DCA's print studio, where the group learned about the history of printmaking and had the opportunity to see a wide variety of printing techniques and equipment in action. It was a fantastic experience and gave the young people a chance to discover everything DCA has to offer and how they can access its creative spaces and opportunities in their own time.

This session has helped us continue developing ideas for our community mural project, and we're excited to see how these creative workshops influence the final design. Watch this space! 👀🎨

🏆🌟 A Winning Partnership! 🌟🏆

We're delighted to celebrate the success of one of the young people supported through our Intandem Family Mentoring Service, who recently took 1st Place in the Best Decorated Welly Boot category at a local cattle show! 🎉👢

Over a number of mentoring sessions, the young person and their mentor worked together to design and decorate a beautiful welly boot competition entry. Through creativity, teamwork and lots of dedication, their hard work paid off with an incredible first-place win!

Our Youth Mentoring team, Shona and Georgia, were delighted to attend the show alongside the young person and mentor to celebrate this fantastic achievement and see all their hard work recognised.

This is a wonderful example of the many different activities that mentors and young people can get involved in together. From arts and crafts projects to trying new experiences, building confidence and developing skills, mentoring is all about creating positive opportunities and helping young people achieve their potential.

A huge congratulations to both the young person and their mentor on this well-deserved success! 👏💜

🎨✨ Summer Programme Trip #4: Hot Chocolate Trust ✨🎨

TCA Youth Mentoring's fourth Summer Programme trip took us to Hot Chocolate Trust, where we kicked off an exciting four-week art project in partnership together.

We were delighted to be matched with local artist Zoe Gibson, who led our first creative session. The young people got stuck in creating characters, sharing ideas, and exploring their creativity as they began developing concepts for a very special project.

This session was the first of two design workshops that will help shape a new mural in Dundee city centre. We can't wait to see the young people's ideas come to life, so keep your eyes peeled for the final result! 👀🎨

As part of the visit, we were also given a tour of Hot Chocolate Trust's youth space, giving our young people the opportunity to learn more about the activities, opportunities, and support available to them locally.
