In this video, Dr. Paquette breaks down two trends that get an eye roll from her: consuming collagen for your hair, skin + nails and topical exosomes.
Why? Because without the right context, they can be more marketing than magic.
Collagen is a protein, and your body can’t absorb it whole. It gets digested and broken down into amino acids. So no, that scoop of collagen doesn’t get a direct flight to your hair, skin and nails.
That doesn’t mean it’s useless. Collagen can be a great source of protein, especially for peri- and post-menopausal women. Just know what you’re actually buying.
And topical exosomes? They need a pathway into the skin and are typically paired with treatments like microneedling or Juvasonic rather than simply applied on top.
The trend we *do* believe in? Knowing what you’re paying for.
