✨ A little MLD check… ✨
I watched a really good video today about Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD), and it got me thinking…
Our bodies are actually pretty clever little things. 🥰
We already have a built-in detox system working away 24/7 — our liver, kidneys, lungs, lymphatic system and all the other clever bits doing their jobs in the background.
MLD absolutely has a purpose. It can support the lymphatic system, encourage the movement of lymph and fluid, and leave you feeling lighter, less puffy and beautifully relaxed.
I’m trained in the Dr Vodder technique of Manual Lymphatic Drainage, which is the approach I practise in my treatments…..
You may notice a temporary change in measurements or feel less bloated or puffy after treatment because fluid has shifted — but that isn’t the same thing as losing body fat.
And this is where my own approach comes in…
I’m a huge believer in our nervous system and the importance of giving ourselves time to actually pause.
Yes, MLD has a purpose — but I also believe the time spent on the therapy bed is incredibly valuable in itself.
Lying down.
Breathing.
Being still.
Switching off from the outside world for a little while. ……..allowing our bodies to relax and absorb the benefits of MLD.
That time out can give our nervous system the opportunity to settle, soften and recalibrate.🤍…..
Sometimes our bodies don’t need another thing done to them.
Sometimes they simply need space to rest.
And honestly, I think that’s one of the most underrated parts of any treatment.
