💛 Every September, people and organisations across the world come together for Su***de Awareness Month. It’s a time to break the silence, reduce stigma, and remind each other that nobody has to face their struggles alone 💛

What Does Su***de Prevention Look Like?
Su***de prevention isn’t only about crisis services ~ it’s also about the everyday connections we make with the people around us.

It looks like:

Checking in on a friend who seems quiet.

Listening without judgement.

Asking twice when someone says they’re “fine.”

Creating safe, welcoming spaces where people feel they belong.

Together, we can build a community where it feels safe to talk about how we’re really doing 🫂

What to Say to Someone who is struggling:

Many of us worry about “saying the wrong thing” ~ but what matters most is showing you care. Here are some gentle messages you could offer:

“I’m here for you. You don’t have to go through this alone.”

“Your life matters more than you know.”

“It’s okay to not be okay ~ I’m listening.”

“You are important to me, and I want to support you.”

If you’re worried about someone, try to:
👉 Notice ~ trust your instincts if something feels off.
👉 Ask ~ gently check in and give them space to talk.
👉 Listen ~ without judgement or rushing to “fix” things.
👉 Support ~ encourage them to seek help and offer to be alongside them.
👉 Stay connected ~ keep in touch with small check-ins.

🌱 Messages of Comfort and Hope
Sometimes the simplest words can mean the most. These short reminders may bring comfort to someone who is feeling low:

“The world is better with you in it.”

“Your story isn’t over yet.”

“Even on your hardest days, your presence makes a difference.”

“Hope is real. Healing is possible.”

A HUGE HEARTFELT THANK YOU to Dunoon Presents and everyone involved in the Dunoon Ultra Marathon! ❤️

We had an absolutely fantastic day on Saturday, along with everyone who came along to cheer on all those taking part in the marathon🏃‍♀️🏃‍♂️🏆🥇🥈

So much time, effort and dedication went into making this event such a success, and we were completely blown away by the incredible generosity and support shown by everyone who came along to support us at our tombola stall 🤩

We are absolutely delighted to say that we raised over £750 on the day!!! 🎉🙌

A huge thank you to everyone who donated prizes. As you can see, we had a fantastic amount of prizes up for grabs, and your generosity helped make the day even more special 🎁❤️

Thank you to everyone who donated, supported, bought tickets, came along for a chat ~ your kindness means so much to us! 🥰

And a huge well done to all who took part in the marathon ~ what an amazing feat! 💪 We're just glad we only had to sell tickets 😉

What an amazing community! 💙

If you're an unpaid carer in Scotland, do you know what financial support you're entitled to?

Join us in September for an online session where the Scottish Government's benefits team and Social Security Scotland representatives will be sharing information on:

- the carer support payment (CSP)
- Scottish carer's supplement (SCS)
- carer's additional person payment (CAPP)
- the young carer grant (YCG)

We'll also be discussing barriers to financial support for older carers.

The session is designed to help you understand:

- recent changes to carer payments
- eligibility criteria
- what these changes mean for carers
- how carer payments interact with other payments like universal credit

The session will include time for questions which we're asking you to submit in advance. Sign up on the link below and submit your question here:
