STA Level 2 Certificate in Pool Water Testing

Monday 13th July 2026 - 5.30pm to 9.30pm
Delivered using Microsoft Teams with remote assessment
Course fee £95 per candidate

Are you or one of your employees responsible for pool water testing? How do you ensure competency around this? With our Level 2 Award in Pool Water testing that's how...!

This 4 hour course is designed to give staff the skills and knowledge to test water safely and effectively and know what issues should be reported to who if readings are outside of ranges.
As this course is FULLY online candidates must have access to a pool water testing kit and pool with which they can test. Candidates will then submit this to complete the assessment.

This week is drowning prevention week!

100s of thousands of young children and adults drown every year.
48% of drownings happen between June and August! If you fall into water remember to stay calm, float on your back and shout for help. If you ever see someone struggling in water call 999 and if possible throw something that floats like a ball.

Remember:

✅ Always check the conditions before entering the water

✅ follow safety signs and poolside rules

✅ when seeing someone in danger, call 999 and tell them help is on the way

✅ Never enter water alone

✅ if you ever end up in danger while being in the water remember to stay calm, float on your back and shout for help

Today we have been over in beautiful St. Bees in West Cumbria supporting the staff and management there with the running of the pool and sports centre.

We did a two hour NPLQ training session with the pool staff and also revised the PSOP, plant room procedures and risk assessments too.

It was fantastic to see the pool (on the brink of closure two years ago) back to being such an integral part of the local community. We work with several pools in rural areas and it is so important to make sure they stay open and keep swimming accessible in rural parts of the UK.

It was a pleasure once again to be over in St. Bees and great to see the team who are working so hard to keep the pool open for everyone.

Well done everyone!

Congratulations to all our lifeguards who passed their NPLQ assessments over the weekend at Gateshead Leisure Centre and St. Joseph’s College in Bradford.

In addition to this, 3 x probationary lifeguard trainers were also signed off as being fully qualified to train and assess.... so well done to them too!

It has been a busy week as you can imagine, but with a very month of June now upon us there is a lot still to do.
