🐾 HOT WEATHER WARNING FOR DOG OWNERS 🐾

With temperatures soaring, please think twice before taking your dog for a walk during the heat of the day.

If it’s too hot for your hand on the pavement for 5 seconds, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws. Heatstroke can happen quickly and can be life threatening.

Instead of walking, focus on keeping your dog cool and mentally enriched at home:

💧 Make sure fresh water is always available
🧊 Offer frozen treats, stuffed Kongs, or ice cubes with dog safe snacks inside
🏠 Keep curtains closed and provide access to cool, shaded areas
🌬️ Use fans, cooling mats, damp towels, or paddling pools where appropriate
🧠 Try scent games, treat hunts, puzzle feeders, and short training sessions to provide mental stimulation
🦴 Rotate toys to keep them interesting
❤️ Spend time together with calm enrichment activities rather than physical exercise

Remember, a missed walk is far safer than a trip to the emergency vet. Dogs can be perfectly happy with mental enrichment and indoor activities for a few days while temperatures are high.

Please keep an eye on elderly dogs, puppies, flat faced breeds, and dogs with health conditions, as they are particularly vulnerable to heat related illness.

28 degrees forecast in Durham this week and I'm now fully prepared.

I've just set up a Dyson Hot and Cool Fan in the Salon - cool, calm and quiet in there now.

Exactly the environment it should be for facials, peels, microneedling and blemish removals.

Going full time in the salon meant I could make the investment properly. No more noisy fan, no open windows letting the heat in, no privacy blinds swaying about.

(And no more sweating while I work. Not a great look! 😆)

Seven weeks of calling her GP every morning at 8am and she still couldn't get an appointment.

She came to me instead. Her Mole Screening was at 7.30pm — after work, no time off needed. By 8.15am the next morning, a report from a Consultant Dermatologist was in both our inboxes giving her the all clear.

That turnaround still gets me every time.

As a MapMyMole Official Clinic, I offer evening appointments up to 8pm so you don't have to wait weeks and hope for the best. If you've got a mole or lesion you're worried about, let's get it looked at properly.
