Men’s Health Week is a reminder that taking care of your health isn’t a luxury — it’s essential. Many men put work, family, and daily pressures first, often pushing their own wellbeing to the bottom of the list. This week encourages everyone to pause, check in, and take small but meaningful steps toward better health.

Men are encouraged to speak openly about how they’re feeling, book routine checks, and seek support early rather than waiting until something becomes urgent. Whether it’s physical health, mental wellbeing, or simply making time for rest, every step counts.

At our practice, we’re committed to supporting men to stay well — through regular health checks, open conversations, and a friendly, confidential space to ask questions. Looking after yourself helps you stay strong for the people who rely on you, and more importantly, for yourself.

💙 Carers Week: Recognising Those Who Care, Every Day
Carers Week is a national campaign dedicated to raising awareness of the vital role unpaid carers play in our communities. It shines a light on the millions of people who provide essential support to family members, friends, or neighbours — often balancing caring responsibilities with work, health challenges, and everyday life.

Caring can be rewarding, but it can also be emotionally and physically demanding. Many carers put their own wellbeing aside to ensure someone else is safe, supported, and able to live with dignity. This week encourages all of us to pause, acknowledge that commitment, and consider how we can make life a little easier for those who give so much.

🌟 Why Carers Week matters
It helps us recognise the hidden work carers do every day

It encourages workplaces and communities to be more understanding and flexible

It highlights the importance of access to support, respite, and wellbeing resources

It reminds carers that they are not alone — and that their contribution is valued

🤝 How we can support carers
Show appreciation through small acts of kindness and understanding

Promote flexible working where possible

Signpost support services such as Carers UK and local wellbeing hubs

Encourage carers to look after themselves as much as they look after others

💬 A message to share
“Carers Week reminds us that behind every act of care is a person who deserves recognition, support, and time to breathe. Thank you to all carers — your strength and compassion make a difference every single day.”

🌼 Deaf Awareness Week: Understanding, Inclusion, and Better Communication
Deaf Awareness Week is an annual campaign that encourages everyone to learn more about Deaf culture, communication barriers, and the simple steps we can take to make the world more accessible. It highlights the experiences of Deaf people, celebrates British Sign Language (BSL), and reminds us that small changes in how we communicate can make a big difference.

💡 Why it matters
Over 12 million people in the UK have some level of hearing loss.

Many face daily challenges that others may not notice — background noise, unclear speech, or environments that aren’t designed with accessibility in mind.

Awareness helps us build workplaces and communities where everyone feels included and understood.

🤝 How we can support Deaf awareness
Use clear communication — face the person, speak naturally, and don’t cover your mouth.

Reduce background noise when possible.

Learn basic BSL signs — even a few greetings can make someone feel welcome.

Be patient and flexible — everyone communicates differently.

Check understanding rather than repeating louder.

🌟 This week encourages us to:
Celebrate Deaf culture and identity

Promote equal access to services

Challenge assumptions about hearing loss

Support colleagues, patients, and friends who communicate differently

💬 A simple message to share
“Deaf Awareness Week reminds us that communication belongs to all of us. By being mindful, inclusive, and open to learning, we create spaces where everyone can be heard — in every sense of the word.”
