Just dropping by to say hi 👋

While my capacity (and let’s be honest… enthusiasm!) for posting on social media is a little low at the moment, I’m still busy in real life supporting incredible parents on their feeding journeys.

That even includes my best friend and her gorgeous new little one pictured here with me 🥰

I’m still very much here, active in the community and in my DMs, so please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need support with feeding your baby!

I’ve been a little quiet on here over the last few weeks. Alongside supporting lovely families with their babies and finishing up some training, being a school mum in December turned out to be quite taxing, and I’ve been soaking in these last precious weeks with my baby before she starts nursery in the new year 🥺

Four months ago I launched my private practice and have already supported so many wonderful families on their feeding journeys. I’ve also loved my time volunteering at a local feeding support group, being a safe space for new parents and watching friendships blossom before my eyes is just 😍

I rang in 2025 with my brand new baby (quite literally - I was still in the delivery room when the fireworks were going off!) and I’m ending the year as a completely different woman. One who’s learning to let go of the small stuff, realising that life really isn’t that serious, understanding that boundaries are a form of self-care, and, most importantly, accepting that my dad was right (just this once 😉) time really does keep speeding up!

I’m so excited to grow and expand in 2026, with more community support for new parents and some amazing collaborations planned. As I take a break from the NHS, I’ll be able to really focus on my private practice and be around more for my small ones 🥰

In the meantime, if you need feeding support over the holidays, I’m still out and about - just send me a message and we can get you booked in!

Thank you for every like, comment, share, DM and recommendation - your support truly means so much to me! Wishing all my lovely followers a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🫶✨

I’m proud to share that I’m listed on the Breastfeeding Twins and Triplets UK register, offering breastfeeding support for multiple birth families ✨

If you are able to, please do continue to book with me directly for personalised infant feeding support.

However, if you’re a multiple birth family in need of specialist breastfeeding help and are finding it difficult to access a Lactation Consultant, the Breastfeeding Twins and Triplets UK charity offers face-to-face support with a local IBCLC on a pay-what-you-can basis.

This can be free of charge, though if you’re able, please consider a donation or future fundraising to support their brilliant work 😊

As a first step, join the Breastfeeding Twins and Triplets UK Facebook group - their team can guide you towards the most appropriate support for you and your family.

And if you’re not a multiple birth family but are also finding it hard to cover the cost of a Lactation Consultant, please send me a message - there are other options we can explore together. Finances should never be a barrier to accessing high-quality lactation support 💜🤱

Breastfeeding Beyond 6 Months 🤱✨

Did you know that in the UK, only about a third of babies are still receiving any breastmilk at 6 months - and just 1% are exclusively breastfed at that age?

Those numbers often surprise people - but they also show just how little support many families get to continue (if they want to). Even as a Lactation Consultant, I’ve already started to get questioned about how much longer I’ll feed my 9 month old.

The truth is… there’s no deadline. Breastfeeding after 6 months is still hugely beneficial and absolutely worth celebrating - as a society we need to do better to support parents who breastfeed older babies, through the toddler years & into childhood.

A Lactation Consultant is there for every step of the way, with judgement-free advice. And incase you wondered, my usual answer to the question is “I’m not sure - we are just going with the flow” 💜

✨ What is an IBCLC? ✨

An International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) holds the highest qualification in infant feeding worldwide, often referred to as the gold standard of breastfeeding support 👶🏻💜

To qualify, IBCLC’s must either be a registered healthcare professional, or complete extensive health science education. They must then complete:
📚 At least 95 hours of lactation-specific education
🤱 A minimum of 1000 clinical practice hours
🤓 A rigorous 4-hour international exam

…and that’s just to get started!

To stay certified, IBCLCs must complete regular continuing education or re-sit the exam every 5 years. This means the support you receive from us is always current, evidence-based, and regulated ✅

It takes a huge amount of time, dedication, and financial investment to become an IBCLC, and I feel very privileged to hold this qualification.

🤱 You can find an IBCLC near you using the search tool from Lactation Consultants of Great Britain - or you can check someone’s registration is valid via the registry

Introducing HAMLET (nope, not the Shakespear play - much cooler)

Whilst scientists were studying how & why breastfed babies fight infections so effectively, they discovered

✨ Human Alpha-lactalbumin Made Lethal to Tumor cells ✨

Here’s what we know...

HAMLET is formed when alpha-lactalbumin (a major milk protein) binds to a fatty acid called oleic acid (also found in breastmilk).

This special combination has been shown to:
🦠 Kill cancer cells – while leaving healthy cells unharmed
🧬 Support immune system development
🛡️ Offer protection against some infections - especially Streptococcus (Group A & Group B Strep)

Research is still ongoing, but this is just one example of how human milk is about so much more than food.

Every drop is custom-made to give your baby an immune & health boost, and I think that’s pretty cool 💜

The September baby boom has started 👶🏻✨

Did you know September is the most popular birth month of the year? (What can I say… December is a very cosy month 😉🎄)

If your little one has arrived (or is arriving any day now), you’re in good company. Here are a few gentle reminders from me:

✨ It’s normal to have questions and concerns about breastfeeding and newborn care - nobody is born knowing how to do this.
✨ You don’t need to struggle through sore feeds or endless Google searches alone.
✨ Support is out there for you, and things don’t need to be at rock bottom before you reach for it.
✨ Every baby is different - try not to compare yours to anyone else’s (especially not on Instagram!).
✨ Rest where you can, accept help if it’s offered, and remember - looking after yourself is part of looking after your baby.

And if your due date has been and gone… I feel you! Both my babies kept me waiting over 42 weeks, and those days feel like the longest two weeks in the world 🫠

Sending love to all the September parents, you’ve got this 💜
