🎉 Thank You, Sussex Community Foundation! 🎉

We're delighted to share that, thanks to a recent grant from Sussex Community Foundation, East Sussex Hearing has been able to expand our reach and reintroduce our popular Hearing Aid Maintenance (HAM) sessions in Rye and Langney.

These local sessions make it easier for people with hearing loss to access support, maintenance, batteries and advice closer to home.

A huge thank you to Sussex Community Foundation for helping us continue supporting communities across East Sussex. 💙

Our autumn term friendly and supportive Lipreading daytime in-person classes are now open for bookings! 😃

With a focus on communicating in everyday situations and offering lots of opportunities to put your learning into practice, these classes are ideal if you're new to learning to Lipread or have some prior experience.

Lipreading classes are held in Eastbourne, Lewes and Seaford - all mixed ability
No classes during school half-term.

🎥 A Huge Thank You to Wealden District Council! 🎥

🚆🔊 A major step forward for hearing accessibility at Brighton Station!

We're delighted to see Auracast technology now permanently installed at Brighton Station, helping passengers with compatible hearing aids, cochlear implants, headphones and earbuds hear important station announcements more clearly.

This achievement has its roots in a conversation East Sussex Hearing had with Greater Thameslink Railway (GTR) when we were invited to advise on ways to make their services more hearing friendly. One of our recommendations was the introduction of Auracast technology.

We were then pleased to connect GTR with Ampetronic, whose expertise has helped turn that idea into reality. The result is the UK's first permanent Auracast installation at a railway station, making travel more accessible for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.

It's fantastic to see collaboration between accessibility organisations, transport providers and technology specialists leading to real-world improvements that make a difference to people's daily lives.

This survey is incredibly important. The feedback collected will help Healthwatch East Sussex understand people's experiences of NHS audiology services and could play a key role in helping us demonstrate the ongoing need for hearing aid support services in our community.
Many people don't realise that East Sussex Hearing's hearing aid maintenance sessions are NOT funded by the NHS. While we support thousands of local people each year with hearing aid tubing changes, cleaning, batteries, advice and maintenance, these services are currently provided without any NHS funding.
The evidence gathered through this survey could help strengthen the case for funding and support, helping us continue to provide these vital services for local NHS hearing aid users.

🎳 A fantastic night at the skittles! 🎳
We had a brilliant time at the annual skittles competition hosted by The Rotary Club of Eastbourne. It was great to enjoy a fun, friendly evening and catch up with so many wonderful people in the community.
We’re pleased to say we finished 4th on the night – not quite a podium spot, but a great effort from the team! 👏
A big thank you to The Rotary Club of Eastbourne for organising such an enjoyable event – we’re already looking forward to next year!
