When pH levels drop below 5.5 your mouth enters an erosion zone. Highly susceptible to acid, your outer enamel begins to demineralise when exposed, and if exposed regularly or for long periods that’s when tooth decay becomes a risk.

Luckily our unique formula naturalises harmful, cutting off decay at the source ⛔️

It's thought that around a third of women going through the menopause experience dry mouth as a symptom.

So, why does this happen?

During the menopausal phase of life, as hormone levels decline, so does saliva. This is because oestrogen plays a vital role in the function of the salivary glands. As hormone levels balance out following menopause, some women will find their mouth starts to feel a bit more normal again, whilst unfortunately for others, dry mouth can be a permanently lasting effect.

The good news: we're not telling you to stop eating any of these foods 🍞

The only thing we want you to know is how to care for your teeth after consuming these foods. Some quick tips:

- Do NOT brush immediately after eating. Wait 30-60 minutes for the mouth to neutralise and restrengthen enamel. Brushing too soon can harm your enamel whilst it has been softened by acids.

- In the meantime, take something that encourages remineralisation. Our Xylitol dental supplements stimulate saliva flow to speed up neutralisation of the mouth, whilst their formula gives a helping hand to prevent erosion.

How does Head & Neck Cancer treatment affect oral health?

Dry mouth
Damage to salivary glands, often caused by targeted radiotherapy, can lead to significantly reduced saliva production. This not only impacts quality of life, but encourages accelerated plaque build up, increased decay, and higher likelihood of gum disease - often leaving patients with costly and daunting dental work down the line.

Changes to taste
Damage to tastebuds can lead to altered or absent taste, removing enjoyment from food and in some cases causing malnutrition. It can also leave the tastebuds very sensitive, with things like harsh mint flavours being painful.

Oral sores
Frequently occurring during treatment, painful mouth sores occur because chemotherapy and radiation kill healthy cells faster than they are able to repair themselves. This opens up the mouth to increased likelihood of infections.

Whilst treatment does amazing things, it also leaves patients with new and often unexpected changes to daily life. Every purchase donates tubs to The Swallows Head & Neck Cancer Charity for use in their patient boxes that help people through a scary and changing time.

3 reasons you should use our dental supplements if you have braces ⬇️

1. They contain bacteria fighting ingredients, vital for the nooks & crannies in braces that make the perfect harbour for plaque-causing bacteria.

2. They support the remineralisation of enamel, which is especially important as braces hinder the natural protective properties of saliva and reduce remineralisation significantly.

3. They are a sugar free breath-freshener, designed for use on the go. This makes them perfect in situations when unable to brush between meals and snacks.
