What is Hypnosis - Hypnotherapy?
How does it work?
Hypnosis is a state of complete relaxation, you feel totally relaxed in a sleepy state, you will have total awareness of what is going on around you.
During Hypnosis you are fully relaxed with your eyes closed, contrary to belief you do not lose control you are fully aware and in control of what is going on around you at all times. Every person is unique and different. Some people say that their body feels so relaxed it feels like a lead weight, others say they feel as though they're floating away. Most clients will agree that it's a lovely feeling because they are more relaxed than they have ever been before.
During Hypnosis you have an altered awareness which our subconscious mind is more open and receptive to suggestions that are given by the therapist.
During your therapy session you will be given suggestions that will affect your behaviour and feelings once you are out of the hypnotic state.
There are two main types of hypnotherapy practised by IAPH trained therapists:
1. Clinical Therapy also known as Suggestion Therapy
Clinical/Suggestion therapy can be very effective, particularly useful when short-term benefits are needed or breaking learnt behaviour cycles. Normally only requires one, or two sessions with occasional top up session if needed.
2. 'Pure Hypnoanalysis', This therapy is only practised by members trained by IAPH
Pure Hypnoanalysis usually takes 8-12 sessions, lasting about an hour each session
Can have long term, very positive results. This form of hypnotherapy can resolve the cause of unconscious anxieties, leaving the sufferer free of their symptoms for life.
