Can you burp?
For as long as I can remember, I’ve never been able to burp.
Most people laugh when I tell them, but the reality is it has affected my whole life.
I had no idea it was even a real medical condition until about a year or so ago when I came across someone online describing exactly the same symptoms. That’s when I discovered it has a name: R-CPD (Retrograde Cricopharyngeus Dysfunction), also known as “No Burp Syndrome.”
It’s so much more than simply not being able to burp.
For me, it meant painful bloating, constant nausea, trapped wind, loud gurgling noises in my throat and chest, and emetophobia (a fear of being sick), which is incredibly common in people with this condition.
