Together for Better Health.

"Why are we talking about winter when summer hasn’t even arrived yet?

At Eastwood Primary Care Centre, we’re making a big push to ensure all eligible patients are protected with the vaccinations available to them before winter arrives. Most people know about the annual Flu and COVID vaccinations — and if you’re eligible, please do take up the offer when invited. We will be running extra weekend clinics to make it easier to attend.

Vaccinations aren’t just for children. There are several really important vaccines available for adults, especially for people with long-term health conditions, or taking certain medications, or over a certain age.

Alongside Flu and COVID vaccines, we also offer:
*RSV (Respiratory Syncytial Virus) Vaccine
RSV can cause serious chest infections and pneumonia, particularly in older adults. The vaccine is given once and is highly effective at reducing severe illness and hospital admissions. It will keep 3 out of 4 patients out of A and E or Hospital!
*Pneumonia Vaccine
This vaccine significantly lowers the risk of developing pneumonia and helps keep patients out of hospital.
*Shingles Vaccine
The shingles vaccine reduces your risk of developing shingles and if it does occur it helps prevent severe symptoms and long-term nerve pain.

We’re proud to already have some of the highest vaccination rates locally and across Nottinghamshire — but we can do even better! Extra clinics will be running throughout the summer so patients are protected well before winter. If you are contacted, please do accept your invitation."
Dr Paul Scullard

A power of attorney is a legal document that lets you appoint someone to make legal decisions or take actions on your behalf should a time come when you are unable to.

The best time to think about a power of attorney is before you actually need one - while you’re healthy, have capacity, and are not under pressure.

In England and Wales there are are two different types:
Property and Financial Affairs LPA
Health and Welfare LPA.

Do you look after someone?

An unpaid carer is someone who regularly looks after a family member, partner or friend who cannot manage without their help due to illness, disability, frailty, a mental health condition, or addiction. They provide this vital support voluntarily, rather than as a paid professional or care worker.

Many carers, especially early in their caring journey, do not see themselves as carers. They simply see themselves as a supportive partner, family member or friend helping out.

If you look after someone living in Nottinghamshire, further information can be found here:
