At 104 years old, Mrs PW wanted one thing above all else: to remain in the home she loves, with her cherished dog, Sky, by her side.

Following a fall, our live-in care team worked closely with Mrs PW and her family to provide personalised support that enhanced her safety while preserving her independence, dignity and daily routines. From tailored mobility support to a thoughtful bedtime routine, every aspect of care was designed around what mattered most to her.

Today, Mrs PW continues to live safely and comfortably at home, enjoying companionship, reassurance and the peace of mind that comes from having support whenever she needs it.

Loneliness isn't always obvious.

For many older people, it can show up in subtle ways, withdrawing from favourite activities, changes in mood, loss of confidence or simply having fewer opportunities for meaningful connection.

During Loneliness Awareness Week, it's important to recognise that loneliness is more than just feeling alone. It can have a significant impact on both physical and mental wellbeing, particularly for older adults.

The NHS highlights that older people are especially vulnerable to loneliness and social isolation, which can seriously affect their health.

If you're concerned about an ageing parent, grandparent or loved one, recognising the signs early can make a real difference.

Read our guide to understanding the signs of loneliness in older people and how families can help support their loved ones.

💜 Loneliness Awareness Week

Loneliness isn't just a feeling, it can have a significant impact on physical and mental wellbeing.

During , we're highlighting the power of connection, companionship and community.

At Trinity Homecare, our Companionship Care service is designed to help people stay socially connected, engaged and independent in the place they love most: home.

Whether it's sharing a cup of tea, enjoying a favourite hobby, attending local activities or simply having someone there to talk to, our carers provide meaningful companionship that supports emotional wellbeing as much as practical support.

Because sometimes, the most important part of care is knowing someone is there for you.

Together, we can help ensure nobody feels alone.

We're proud to see our insight featured in Care Talk as the BBC's Caring Matters week shines a light on the realities faced by unpaid carers across the UK.

We are seeing more families seek advice earlier in their care journey, looking for reassurance, guidance and practical support before reaching crisis point. It is an encouraging shift that helps people remain safe, independent and comfortable in the place they know best: home.

The right support at the right time can make a meaningful difference for both loved ones and the family members caring for them.

A huge thank you to the millions of unpaid carers who provide incredible support every day. 💙
