Scottish Breast Screening Programme

Thank you NHS Scotland for my free routine mammogram NHS Scotland appointment today at Morrisons, Bathgate, West Lothian!

It was done so gently - it was even more comfortable than getting a bra fitted!

Ladies, if you get a free breast screening appointment invitation letter please accept the invitation.

For those battling breast cancer thinking of you and hopefully we can one day eradicate this disease with better research, funding and treatments!

When you get your screening appointment will depend on the GP practice you're registered with. Don't worry if your appointment doesn't arrive as soon as you turn 50.

Each GP practice takes part in the screening programme every three years so you may not receive your first invitation until you're nearly 53.

If you need to change your appointment, please call - 0131 537 7400.

We were at Morrisons in Kirkcaldy today promoting the Breast Screening Mobile Unit and raising awareness of the importance of breast screening.

I was also joined by my colleague Lorraine from the Fife Screening Team, and together we helped raise awareness of all the national screening programmes available in Scotland

💙 We received a fantastic response, with lots of interest and great conversations from members of the community.

Please don't " Duck" out of your breast screening appointment!

Breast Screening can help to detect cancers before any symptoms may be seen or felt.

If the appointment date or time in your appointment letter is not suitable, please contact us on 0131 537 7400 and we can arrange a new appointment for you.

We have unfortunately required to cancel screening in Glenrothes today (Friday 10th July) and Monday 13th July. A new appointment will be sent out to you as soon as possible.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, we require to cancel breast screening on our mobile unit in Glenrothes on Tuesday 7th July and Wednesday 8th July. A new appointment will be sent out to you as soon as possible.

It is the 1st of July and this is a monthly reminder to check your breast - It is so important to know what is " normal " to you and what is not. If you have any concerns contact your GP. !

A question which is asked a lot is - Why is Breast Screening so Important??

The picture below explains just how important it is to go to your breast screening appointment when you receive your letter.

The breast screening programme is for woman from 50-70 and woman who are over 70 can self refer by calling 0131 537 7400.

You may not get your invitation until you are 53 as all GP surgery’s will be invited every 3 years.

When you receive your invitation and find that the appointment is not suitable, please call 0131 537 7400. We will be happy to arrange a new date and time.
