Great! We love strange pain! 🧡

There are very few circumstances where you can give us, as your podiatrist, too much or unnecessary information!

If you come to clinic & say “I can walk about 20 minutes absolutely fine, then it starts”, that’s MUCH more useful than simply saying “my foot hurts when I walk.”

Same with ⬇️

“It hurts in Converse but not my trainers.”
“It only hurts uphill.”
“Downstairs is worse than upstairs.”
“I can run on it, but standing cooking dinner kills me.”
“It doesn’t hurt until the following morning.”
“Barefoot is worse.”
“Barefoot is better.”
“It happens at exactly the same point in every run.”
“It wakes me up at night.”
“The pain moves rather than staying in one place.”

We really don’t want to just know WHERE it hurts.

We want to know what makes it hurt, what makes it stop, when it starts, what you’re wearing, what you were doing beforehand and what happens afterwards

The more context clues from you, the more bespoke a diagnosis/treatment pathway we can give!

Let it never be said that Abbeyhill Footcare has ever stood still ❌

Podiatry is constantly evolving, and we want the care we offer our patients to evolve with it.

That means continually investing in training, qualifications and expanding the clinical skills within our team

Not because we need another certificate for the wall, but because every new skill gives us more options when somebody walks through the door needing help.

Coming up soon, Daniel is undertaking further training in skin surgery, developing his skills in the assessment and removal of appropriate skin lesions within the scope of podiatric practice 👨‍⚕️

Meanwhile, Ruairi is continuing his postgraduate development in MSK ultrasound, building further expertise around ultrasound-guided procedures alongside supplementary prescribing 👨‍⚕️

It all feeds into the bigger picture. The more skills within the team, the more we can investigate and manage in clinic, the more options for our patients and the fewer occasions where the answer has to be “you’ll need to go somewhere else for that.”

We already offer much more than many people realise at Abbeyhill Footcare and we’ve got absolutely no intention of stopping 🧡💙 👣

We’re very good at knowing who to see when something goes wrong…until it’s our feet apparently?

Toothache? Dentist 🦷

Changes to your eyesight? Optician 👓

Something wrong with the car? Mechanic 🧑‍🔧

But foot, ankle or lower limb pain? 🤔

Far too often, we put up with it. Change our shoes. Stop doing certain activities. Take painkillers. Google it. Hope it disappears. And sometimes simply accept it as something we have to live with.

Your feet are responsible for carrying you through pretty much everything you do. They deserve the same attention as the rest of you.
