"The reason that I volunteer for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, is because I want to give something back.

"I was able to learn, progress and become a skilled surgeon because of the patience, knowledge, innovation and altruism of surgeons who came before me. The College mission from its establishment in 1505, has been to lead in; education, examinations, assessment, professional standards and in the advancement of surgery. Building upon these traditional foundations whilst also encouraging cutting edge innovation, delivery and leadership in these key roles, is me giving something back."

- Professor Robin W Paton

"Volunteering for RCSEd is an important part of my professional life.

"The network of clinicians and staff provides a strong sense of belonging and purpose. Through my work across various teams, I can support and encourage surgeons and dental surgeons to reach their full potential and become part of our global community throughout their careers.

"Contributing to standards, educational innovation, heritage and the running of the College is both challenging and rewarding. Helping shape the future of medical and dental training, while giving back to an organisation that has supported my own career, continues to inspire my involvement."

- Professor Grant T McIntyre
