Tattooing a banana
In one of my previous videos, I explained how I bought my first two tattoo machines from an American company called Spaulding &Rogers, in the form a bag of bits, and put the machines together myself.
I also explain how I did my very first tattoo practice on fruit, mainly bananas.
I still have those same two machines, but I haven’t tattooed with them since the 1990’s - come to think of it, I haven’t tattooed a banana since then either - so I thought it would be a fun experiment to tattoo a banana using those very machines, complete with the tiny tubes they came with, and make a video.
Since the machines have sat in their boxes for over thirty years, there were a couple of teething problems…
All in all though, I managed to get a fairly reasonable result- I even took a ‘healed’ shot a couple of days later to finish up with.
If you’re a coil machine history buff, and are interested in the machines themselves, I’m putting together a separate video all about them, from ordering, to kit form, to tattooing, and will hopefully get that out soon.
Thanks for watching, and if you’re interested in more of this old time tattoo nonsense, please like and share the videos, and ask whatever questions you have in the comments below.
Bye for now!
