What’s behind the smile? 😊

This photograph was taken in my old office. Looking back, I recognise that wee knowing smile—the belief that, whatever challenges came our way, we would find a way forward.

Behind it are worries, setbacks, lessons learned and people who helped me keep going. There’s also that quiet determination that says, “There’s still more to come.”

We don’t always know how things will work out. Sometimes we just need to pause, find a different perspective and take the next step. And on the days when the smile is harder to find, it’s okay to ask for support.

My motto still guides everything I do:

DIGITAL DEREK IS GROWING…

The idea behind Digital Derek has always been simple:

To give people something supportive to turn to in between sessions, or when the person they normally speak to isn’t available.

It doesn’t replace a therapist, coach, counsellor or human connection. It’s a reflection tool designed to help you stop, think, gain perspective and find your own way forward.

And now it’s growing!

New downloadable resources and worksheets are being added.

What’s the Craic? cards are already becoming part of the Digital Derek experience, with the digital version developing further.

WE’RE STILL STANDING. 🦬❤️

This time last week, we were at the Circle Network Conference — full of beans, surrounded by amazing, like-minded people.

Entrepreneurs. Holistic people. Business people. Caring people. People with ideas, dreams and challenges of their own.

There was a real buzz in that room.

Yes, it took us around 12 hours to get there. Yes, I discovered that sitting in the back of a car looking at my phone and travel sickness definitely don’t mix! 😂 But would I do it again?

Absolutely.

Then you come home.

Back to reality. Back to running a business. Back to bills, pressures, decisions, health challenges, moving offices and everything else life decides to throw into the mix.

And perhaps that’s where the real learning begins.

This weekend, while doing something as ordinary as housework, decluttering and preparing for our move, I found myself reflecting on just how far we’ve come.

Through the challenges, the mistakes, the lessons and the difficult days…

we’re still standing.

And we’re not alone.

Sometimes we just need enough stillness to hear that quiet voice again. To listen to our heart. To remember why we started.

For me, it’s about continuing to do the work I love and helping other people through their own life challenges.

I woke up this morning feeling inspired again.

At Circle we talked about being a little more buffalo. 🦬

When the storm comes, the buffalo doesn’t spend its life running away from it.

It heads towards it.

So my question this Monday morning is:

Are you ready to head towards your storm?

I am.

And if you’re not quite ready yet, maybe you don’t have to face it alone.

We’re still standing. And we’re still moving forward. ❤️

EXCITING TIMES AHEAD!

I’ve just filmed a wee video from our new home at Elizabeth House, Victoria Crescent, Elgin — and it’s starting to feel very real now!

We’re about halfway through getting everything ready, and I wanted to give you a little look around and show you just how much space we’re going to have.

There’s still work to do, boxes to unpack and plenty of organising, but we’re getting there!

Wednesday 30th September is the big day when we officially move in properly and begin this next chapter.

Angela and I are really excited about what we can create here — not just our individual appointments and treatments, but workshops, teaching, spiritual development and other events too.

It feels like a real fresh start, and we can’t wait to welcome you through the doors of Elizabeth House.

New beginnings. New space. Same heart and purpose.
