💜 DAY 6 — 30 DAYS. 30 HAIRSTYLES. STILL ME. 💜
Today called for long, lustrous, swishy hair.
Because if I was going to try Zumba for the very first time, surely I needed hair that could flick and swish along with me! 😂💃
But today turned out to be about so much more than the hair.
Today I went along to a two-hour Zumbathon in Ely, raising money for the Oasis Cancer Hub — a cause that, for very obvious reasons, sits incredibly close to my heart.
And I wasn’t quite prepared for how emotional it would feel.
Nella, who was leading the Zumbathon, used to teach Erica.
So there I was, dancing to songs Erica would have danced to, with the instructor she would have danced with.
And for a little while today, it felt as though I was dancing for both of us. 💜
There were songs I couldn’t keep up with and bits where I walked instead — and do you know what? I didn’t care.
I have never done Zumba before.
I’ve always wanted to try it, I gave it a go, I did what my body could do, and I absolutely LOVED it.
That feels like quite an important part of this whole 30 Days, 30 Hairstyles challenge too.
Yes, it’s about the hair.
It’s about opening boxes and wearing styles I’d forgotten about.
It’s about remembering just how much fun hair can be.
But it’s also about ME.
Trying things.
Saying yes.
Going places.
Meeting people.
Doing things I haven’t done before.
And making memories.
Helrica Massage Clinic also donated a £30 treatment voucher to today’s raffle, so it was lovely to see it won by one of the ladies there. I’m really looking forward to welcoming her into the clinic when she’s ready to use it. 💜
And, as if today hadn’t already given me enough, I met a lovely lady called Sue, who I walked back to the car park with afterwards. We’ve already arranged to go to Zumba together on the 19th — and this time I’m even joining everyone for coffee afterwards.
So I think it’s safe to say… I’ll be going back. 😂
Today was emotional.
Today was fun.
Today pushed me out of my comfort zone.
Today gave me another new person to know.
And today reminded me again that life is there to be lived.
Erica didn’t get nearly enough time to do all the things she should have been able to do.
So perhaps one of the ways I can carry her with me is by doing a little more living for both of us. 💜
And obviously…
doing it with fabulous swishy hair. 💃😂💜
Day 6 complete.
30 Days.
30 Hairstyles.
Still Me.
