Garland At The Arches

Unfortunately, due to some delays in getting the building completely ready, we have decided to delay the opening, including the two-week free trial, until Monday 12th October.

We’re obviously disappointed to have to push things back, but we want to make sure everything is properly finished and ready for everyone to enjoy from day one.

The good news is that The Arches is really starting to take shape! It’s already becoming the colourful, welcoming and exciting space we had hoped for, and we’re really looking forward to showing everyone what we’ve been working on.

Take a look at our progress photos and if you're passing by please feel free to pop by and have a look if you’re passing. We won’t always be there, but if the doors are open, you’re very welcome to come in, say hello and have a nose around!

We’ll be sharing plenty more over the next few weeks about what’s happening, activities and plans for the opening.

We are offering the local community two FREE weeks to try out Garland @ The Arches!

The sessions will take place on:

Monday 14th–Thursday 17th September

Monday 21st–Thursday 24th September

Each day will run from 10am to 4pm.

The sessions are completely free and will give people the chance to try our activities, meet the team and see what a typical day at Garland @ The Arches will be like.

🛠️ We're working hard to transform this space for adults with learning disabilities and their families and carers from Exeter and the surrounding areas.

Due to open mid-September, we're so excited to see the space taking shape and also to be working hard on developing a varied programme of activities all based on our extensive experience in supporting adults with disabilities to grow in confidence and independence as well as feel connected and part of a community.

Meet Paul 👋

Paul is the co-founder of Garland Support and Garland @ The Birdhouse and now Garland @ The Arches.

Paul's role is to oversee the project and support the team in creating an exciting place where people can learn new skills, build confidence and have fun.

Outside of work Paul enjoys cycling, keeping active, spending time with his family and thinking of new ideas and fun projects to keep things fresh and exciting!

If you see Paul working away in the arches, or at The Birdhouse stop and say hi!

Garland @ The Arches is about much more than activities. It is about helping people feel connected, included and part of a community.

Many adults with disabilities can experience isolation or may not need full-time provision, but still benefit from routine, social opportunities and meaningful engagement. We offer a consistent space where people can meet others, build relationships and feel more confident taking part in group activities.

The service supports people to:

A new day service for adults with disabilities is set to open in Exeter this September, offering activities designed to build confidence, encourage independence and tackle loneliness. 💙

Just like at Garland Support and The Birdhouse, Garland @ The Arches will support adults aged 18+ from Exeter and the surrounding areas with learning disabilities, autism and/or additional support needs.

The service is open Monday - Thursday to people who are able to take part in group based activities, including people in supported living, using Direct Payments, self-funding individuals and people supported by families, carers or other providers.

Everyone will be individually assesed before attending. This helps us understand what support they may need and ensures everyone can enjoy their day with us safely.

Garland @ The Arches is a new, community-based activity service for adults with disabilities based under St Thomas train station in Exeter, run by Garland Support.

We offer activities and day services to adults with disabilities four days a week, providing consistent, meaningful activities in a safe, friendly and welcoming environment.

Garland @ The Arches is open to the wider disability comunity and offers structured day services with planned timetables, giving people the opportunity to try new things in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Our aim is to create a place where people feel valued, included and able to develop independence, friendships and a sense of belonging.
