πΏ It's The Great Big Green Week, and we're proud to share some of the ways Hospiscare is becoming more environmentally friendly, and saving money that can be spent on patient care.
As a local charity, every penny matters. By reducing our energy use, fuel costs and waste, we can make sure more of our funding goes towards supporting people facing a life-limiting illness and their families.
Here are just some of the changes we've made recently:
π‘ LED lighting has now been installed across all our sites, alongside a voltage optimisation system at Searle House. This will reduce electricity consumption by at least 7.1%, save money on energy bills and cut 68 tonnes of COβ emissions.
π We've added three electric cars for our community team and an electric van for our estates team, thanks to a government grant.
π New electric vehicle charging points have been installed at Highview Gardens, Kings House and Spreyton.
β»οΈ Our Simpler Recycling scheme is helping us send less waste to landfill while reducing waste collection costs.
Small changes can make a big difference. Thank you to everyone who supports and helps us continue caring for local patients and families while working towards a greener future. π
