Wednesday went full Hawaiian this week at Creative Serenity!

The garlands were finally finished, everyone looked absolutely fabulous and we definitely brought a little tropical sunshine to Exmouth.

There was just one slight problem during our dance session… Brian got a little confused and, instead of hula dancing, started walking like an Egyptian!

But thank you, Brian, because you may have just given us the idea for another fantastic theme. Hollie has already got her creative thinking cap on, so watch this space!

Of course, we also enjoyed our usual music, dancing and signing session, and Sam was incredibly proud of everyone. Our sign-along to Reach by the mighty S Club 7 is looking absolutely amazing and everyone is getting better and better.

Friday is here and we’re definitely feeling groovy as we head into the weekend!

What a busy day we’ve had at Creative Serenity. Our Hawaiian theme is still going strong, with more fabulous pineapples being created today … and absolutely nothing to do with Sam’s slight piña colada obsession, obviously!

We also got creative designing our Tiki masks, which we’ll be making next week, so watch this space because I have a feeling they’re going to be rather spectacular.

Brian has been busy too, creating the Taj Mahal for a special collage, while Amy helped Karen design her very own fruit bowl. We also welcomed Stephen to his new afternoon session, which was lovely.

Then, of course, it was time to do what we do best… dance, sing, sign and make plenty of noise! Josh, Lee and Brian were particularly enthusiastic, while Emily has now learned all the signs to Lee’s favourite song, Reach by the mighty S Club 7. I’m not sure who is more impressed … Emily or Lee!

Wednesday has arrived again and today we were getting fruity!

We made some fabulous fruit bowls, with everyone decorating their own colourful collection of fruit using lots of brightly coloured paper. There was plenty of cutting, sticking and creativity going on, and everyone worked really hard. The finished bowls looked so good they were almost good enough to eat!

Then it was time to turn up the music for our usual afternoon of dancing, singing, signing and playing along. Because sitting still is simply not an option at Creative Serenity!

We finished the afternoon with model making, colouring and some serious jigsaw concentration. Ian is still battling his mammoth 350 piece jigsaw and is now VERY close to the finish line. We’re all waiting to see who wins… Ian or the pesky remaining pieces!

Tropical Friday has landed at Creative Serenity!

It’s Friday, it’s a Bank Holiday weekend and our fabulous Friday gang have definitely earned a chance to put their feet up after another busy day of creativity, laughter and a little bit of tropical madness.
Today we’ve been busy creating some perfectly delicious-looking pineapples. We’re beginning to suspect Sam is still in holiday mode and secretly dreaming of a piña colada!
The Hawaiian theme continued with everyone decorating their flowers for our colourful garlands, while the Pom Pom department became increasingly tangled. Somehow, there is always a Pom Pom involved in something at Creative Serenity!
Brian took things in a completely different direction and got busy creating a fantastic fantasy train before giving it a colourful paint job. Because apparently, when you’re at Creative Serenity, you can go from Hawaii to fantasy railways without missing a beat.

TODAY WE WANT TO SHINE A VERY BIG SPOTLIGHT ON OUR AMAZING VOLUNTEERS.

Creative Serenity would quite simply not be what it is without Holly, Liz, Ellie, Karen, Marion, Lucy, Jo and Meg.

Every week they turn up ready to chat, laugh, encourage, create, dance, untangle Pom Poms, admire everyone’s masterpieces and generally throw themselves into whatever madness we have planned.

They give their time, their patience, their creativity and, most importantly, their enthusiasm. They help make Creative Serenity a place where everyone can be themselves, have a go at new things, make friends and enjoy their day.

So, from all of us at Creative Serenity, thank you. You might be the people behind the scenes, but you make a huge difference to the people in front of you. We are incredibly lucky to have every single one of you as part of our Serenity family.

Wednesday erupted into a riot of volcanoes!

Our Hawaiian adventure is still going strong, and Creative Serenity has been transformed into a rather colourful tropical paradise. More beautiful flowers have been created for our fabulous garlands, while the next big project is already taking shape… Tiki masks!

And if our masks weren’t going to be flamboyant enough already, we’ve had some gorgeous peacock feathers donated by the lovely Kerry. Thank you, Kerry … they are going to make those masks seriously spectacular!

Meanwhile, Ian has finished his fabulous cave and magical grotto. We’re loving the details… but can you spot the bats hiding inside?

There’s always something happening at Creative Serenity, and we currently have ONE LAST PLACE available on Wednesday afternoon.

Full throttle Friday has been another fabulous one at Creative Serenity!

Today we’ve had a spectacular display of volcanoes, each one proudly sitting on its very own little island. There’s been plenty of colour and creativity too, as everyone got stuck into painting flowers for our Hawaiian garlands. We’ve still got lots more to do, so keep watching this space because these are going to look fabulous when they’re finished!

We’ve also been well and truly tied up with pom poms. Amy completed an especially fluffy one today, proving that when it comes to pom poms, bigger and fluffier is definitely better!

And of course, there was another very important celebration today as we wished our fabulous Lee a very happy birthday! Lee got to choose his own birthday cake and, quite rightly, went for a chocolate caterpillar cake. There may have been a few happy faces when that appeared!

Of course, no Friday would be complete without our regular dance, music and Sing and Sign sessions, before everyone settled down for a well deserved bit of story time to round off the day.

Our Friday sessions are completely full, but there are still opportunities to join us on Wednesdays.

Wednesday was all about teamwork at Creative Serenity …

This afternoon the jigsaw masters were out in force. Ian and Tracy were joined by Brian and Angela, and before long they were deep in conversation about the really important things in life… namely, what everyone was having for tea!

Even Sam got roped into the jigsaw action, hunting down those pesky edge pieces that seem to disappear just when you need them. Teamwork, determination and a fair amount of jigsaw detective work later, progress was definitely being made.

But we didn’t spend the whole day puzzling things out. More beautiful flowers were decorated this morning for our Hawaiian garlands, and then we launched into our next exciting project … Volcano Island!

And now for the important bit…

We have an all day place becoming available soon, plus spaces available on Wednesday afternoons.
All-day sessions run from 9.30am–4pm at £50, and afternoon sessions run from 1pm–4pm at £30.

We’re also looking for a few more wonderful volunteers, especially for our afternoon sessions. You don’t need to be an expert crafter or jigsaw champion … just bring your enthusiasm, a willingness to get stuck in and a love of a good chat.

And yes, there will be biscuits. In fact, Sam can provide you with the full and very important list of biscuits available.
