Some thoughts from running the Fairford 10K this weekend.

Miles off a PB, but very happy with my run and genuinely delighted with the consequences of showing up.

The time on the clock wasn’t anywhere near a PB, but the morning was a lovely reminder of how much I enjoy racing. How much I love being part of something bigger than myself. How mentally strong I can be when things get uncomfortable. How inspiring it is to watch other people dig deep and achieve their goals.

And perhaps most unexpectedly, how much joy there is in cheering complete strangers towards a finish line.

Sometimes the reward isn’t the result you came for. ✨Sometimes it’s the reminder of who you are and what matters to you.✨

Days like this remind me how lucky we are: to move our bodies, challenge ourselves, support one another, and ✨share in something bigger than ourselves.✨

Congratulations to everyone who ran, volunteered, marshalled, organised or cheered from the sidelines. You made it special 💛

Kokoro is a small but steadily growing physiotherapy-led clinic based in Fairford, offering specialist health, wellbeing and performance services in a calm, personal and people-focused environment.

We are looking for someone warm, emotionally intelligent, organised and proactive to become the face of the clinic and help support the day-to-day running of the business.

This is a small clinic, run personally and with genuine care. You would be working closely alongside just one clinician initially, helping streamline the admin and client journey whilst supporting the continued growth of the business.

The ideal person will:
• Be naturally warm, kind and personable
• Have excellent communication and people skills
• Be calm, grounded and discreet
• Be highly organised and able to use initiative
• Enjoy helping people and creating a welcoming atmosphere
• Feel comfortable handling sensitive/confidential information
• Be confident with phones, emails, bookings and taking payments
• Take pride in keeping things running smoothly

Reception/admin experience would be advantageous, as would experience within healthcare, physiotherapy or insurance billing — however the most important thing is finding the right person.

The role would initially involve:
• Greeting clients and managing front of house
• Answering phone calls and responding to enquiries
• Booking and rebooking appointments
• Taking payments and assisting with invoicing
• Helping keep clinic administration organised and streamlined
• Phone cover 8am-6pm Monday to Friday remotely when not in clinic

Hours:
Approximately 12 hours per week initially
(Monday–Thursday, ideally mornings, though flexibility can be discussed) and remote phone cover 8-6pm Monday to Friday when not in clinic.

Pay:
Starting from £13/hour depending on experience

There is scope for this role to grow over time as the business continues to expand.

Please send a short covering email telling us a little about yourself and why the role appeals, along with a CV to: [email protected]

Ibiza Marathon 2026.
Holy f-ing s**t balls, that was tough.

A total tale of two halves. At 8K I was seriously unsure if I could finish and started necking fluids way too quickly. By 12K I was rationing water as I was starting to feel dizzy and nauseous.

The heat for the first 22K was all consuming. My brain couldn’t think; however slow I ran, I couldn’t settle my breathing, my heart rate was way too high, my body felt like a dead weight, and I was starting to feel panicky; and so walking became the only option on even the slightest inclines.

From half way, the race dramatically improved. Long downhill sections, plenty of shade, and finally a breeze that had been completely absent earlier. I could feel my head clearing and my body physically cooling, and despite a pretty depleted system, I’d fuelled sensibly and was able to plod along mostly without stopping; heart rate down, breathing easier.

Voice notes and calls from the very best cheerleaders .annes gave me boosts, and “calm competence” actually prevailed when things got tough and cramp started to threaten.

This marathon won’t break any records, and honestly I hope it’s a bookend for my slowest one—but I feel so proud of myself for getting through it. I ditched my ego and my race plan, I listened to my body and adapted instead of forcing the plan that clearly wasn’t going to work. I didn’t panic and managed myself through a lot of mental and physical roadblocks! And for a top-tier win, I didn’t burn, despite 30 degree heat!

I also had a little mantra written on my arm that kept me level:

THIS IS A PRIVILEGE 🏃🏻‍♀️
