What’s the secret to being a life long learner?
The answer, of course, is curiosity! The 18th century English author Samuel Johnson called curiosity “the thirst of the soul.”
Two centuries later American author William Arthur Ward described it as “the wick in the candle of learning.”

@ Well Wild - A therapeutic approach to Forest school & Bushcraft everyone leaves showing an appetite for learning, with I wonder, what if, can I try questions with back pocket full of new learned skills and a better version of themselves than when they arrived. 😊

Coming together is a beginning; keeping together is progress; working together is success.” — Henry Ford

Was reall pleasure being part of Safer Communities Youth Action project helping facilitate their SDYAP Development day
John seeing the benifits of being in nature & open space where yout not feeling confined within 4 walls of a Community centre certainly brought out the best in the YP and Volinteers.

Team building games, community art and some big discussions were shared, voiced being heard, where participation was key for this event to be a success.

Looking forward to what this group of individuals young and old take from today in making their community, and the people who live in it, benifit from their vision and hopefulkh commitment making things happen.

Just had a spelling & grammar lession from Head Teacher from Seamab School.
Iv never realised just how bad my spelling and grammar is on every Well Wild FB post...
I just write how I say it...
Then read it, it sounds the exact same till someone else reads it out to you.

In future post they all be checked by Chat GPT and maybe they look bit more professional, iv been sending emails to professionals, School, Social Services etc
I do fell big bit embarrassed, you think a wee kids took my phone wrote the FB post.

Maybe this is why I can relate to so many kids, yp who enter my woods.

rules KO. 🤪

Thats 2 Forest School sessions Fully booked.

Still opportunity for families to get involved...
There is something pretty special about watching families who's lives have gotten to busy with kids on screens.
When they come into the woods their stresses fade and the laughter of the familys coming together can be heard through the woods....

And today I had my niece’s little boy, Darrel’s 8th birthday party.

He and 10 super‑hyped‑up boys were ready to rock the woods.

We started off with a high‑intensity game—Mammoths 🦣 and Cavemen—in the hope of burning off some energy.
That didn't work… 😂

After a serious talk about fire, its risks and the dangers of playing with it,
they learned how to use flint and steel to create their own small fires safely.
The frustration was real, but their determination not to give up was admirable.

They ran, climbed, jumped, swung; some fell and skinned their knees. I told them too many times not to run, yet they ran and fell again…

They ate hot dogs and birthday cake, and roasted massive marshmallows.

Little Darrel was super happy with his new flint‑and‑steel set, and the harpoon I made him—just in case he comes face‑to‑face with any mammoths.

They all left just as hyped up as when they arrived; I’m not sure they’ll sleep tonight.
Actually, I’m not sure they’ll sleep at all.

I’m sure the little lad had a truly wild birthday party he won’t forget.

Me and Duke sat for a while trying to ground ourselves after a full‑on weekend connecting with nature.

Been full on Wknd in Roughcastle Woods.
Think all the animals moved out till the parties were over.
Yesterday
Stenthousemuire under 10s girls foot ball team were putting their team work skills to good use, building on their confidance, perseverance, reziliance using flint steel for the first time, getting that initial first spark then lighting the cotton wool creating your own small fire 🔥 gives you sence of accomplishment, feeling proud.
I can imagine it be the same as scoring your first goal.
Amazing wee team, all looking out for one another, being supportive, encouraging praising one another.
It was real pleasure teaching them new experiencies & skills that are transferable when on and of the football pitch...
