We’re thrilled that Kiln St Ives is up for BEST DESIGN at this year’s British Sauna Society Awards - and we’d be so grateful for your support!
Comment VOTE and we’ll send you the link - it takes less than a minute to vote.
We’ve left it a little last minute (classic), but voting closes TONIGHT at 11:59pm.
Kiln has always been rooted in the belief that thoughtful architectural design can shape human connection and community. Every element from the ergonomics of the seating to the warmth and sustainability of the material palette, and the flow between spaces has been intentionally considered to create an environment that feels welcoming, calming, and naturally social, drawing on the principles of Japanese courtyard gardens to evoke retreat, contemplation, and connection with nature.
Our most ambitious structure to date, Kiln St Ives comprises three mobile units interconnected by sheltered walkways, alongside five cold plunges and showers, creating a space that feels both expansive and intimate. Fully wheelchair accessible throughout, it reflects our commitment to making sauna culture welcoming and inclusive for all.
Rainwater and bath water are harvested and repurposed to irrigate the surrounding landscape, while Planitherm heat-soaked double glazing and thermal heat lobbies were specified to maximise energy efficiency, reducing fuel consumption without compromising performance.
Conceived by Kiln’s founders as a visually lightweight architectural form, the design was developed through a detailed and deeply collaborative process with our local makers, Many Hands, balancing technical performance with material sensitivity.
Every vote means so much to a small independent business like ours.
Thanks so so much for backing us at Kiln 🖤
