🍓 GUMMY VITAMINS: Clever Supplement or Glorified Sweet?
I often get asked if gummy supplements are actually good, often by mums with fussy tots! 👶🏼
And I completely understand why they’re appealing. They look like sweets and taste like sweets 🍬 So children are far more likely to take them.
But here’s what I want parents to remember: A gummy isn’t automatically a better supplement.
🔎 They contain added sugar
🔎 They provide relatively small amounts of nutrients
🔎 Some contain lots of additional ingredients for taste, texture and colour
🔎 The quality and nutrient levels vary enormously between products
Some children’s gummies contain several grams of sugar per daily serving. So do read the labels, look at the actual dose and the ingredients. The sugars contained and age range is also important to consider.
A supplement should fill a nutritional gap — not become another sweet in the cupboard. Nutrition is in the details and I can help select appropriate supplements and check over ingredients and formulations 💚

August has landed- Welcome a new month 💛
A fresh chapter and another opportunity to realign with the person you’re becoming.
August reminds us that growth doesn’t always happen in dramatic moments. Often, it’s found in the small choices we make every day- the nourishing meals, the morning walk, the extra glass of water, the earlier bedtime, the moments of stillness, and the decision to keep going even when motivation fades. Trust that every positive choice you’ve made is planting seeds for your future.

This month do look up at the sky, it will be astounding display of celestial events 🤩
We have a solar eclipse on the 12th + Leo New Moon 🌑
The lions gate portal on the 8:8 🦁
Perseid meteor shower 💫
Full Moon 🌕 on the 28th

As the days slowly begin to shorten, August also invites us to pause and ask:
🤍What do I want to cultivate before this season ends?
🤍What habits are supporting the healthiest version of me?
🤍What can I release that no longer serves me?

Wishing you a month filled with health, peace, strength & abundance 🙏🏼💛

Our careers don’t define who we are. We’re all so much more than our job titles.

People often know me as “the nutritionist.” But I don’t think our careers define who we are. We’re all so much more than our job titles.
I genuinely love what I do and I’m passionate about nutrition. It doesn’t feel like work most of the time, because I love helping people become healthier and happier. Getting here has taken years of hard work, nonetheless I feel incredibly lucky that I’ve found work that aligns so closely with my purpose.
What many don’t know is that I’m also deeply creative, I studied graphic art & design and enjoyed writing poetry. I try to bring that creativity into everything I do—whether it’s designing client resources, creating educational content, writing content for the media, finding new ways to make nutrition engaging and accessible.

Outside of nutrition, there are two other passions that have been with me for as long as I can remember...
🎧 Music: If I hadn’t become a Nutritionist, I honestly think I’d have loved being a DJ. Music brings people together, creates memories and transforms how we feel.
🏛️ Ancient history & mythology: I’ve always been fascinated by ancient civilisations and archaeology. I could happily spend my days uncovering ancient artefacts, piecing together stories from the past. The further back in time it goes the more fascinating!

Maybe these interests aren’t as different as they seem... Nutrition is kind of sciency, music is creativity and history is curiosity. And perhaps all three have shaped the person I am today.

P.S. If you’ve read this far... tell me👇
If you couldn’t do your current job, what would your dream career be?

How do you want to look and feel in 30-40 years’ time?
Feel:
💪🏼 Strong enough to carry your shopping & get up from the floor with ease
✈️ Fit enough to travel
🧠 Sharp enough to remember names & conversations
🦴 Maintain strong bones and muscles
🦵 Have fewer body aches and pain
🧖🏼‍♀️ Keep your skin healthier for longer- delay wrinkles and age-related changes

The truth is…your body at 70 is being built by the habits you repeat at 30 and 40.
Every meal. Every walk. Every strength session. Every good night’s sleep. Every time you choose whole foods over ultra-processed ones. Every time you prioritise your health.

As a Nutritionist, I don’t believe nutrition is about chasing the latest diet or expensive supplements. It’s about protecting your future with the right information and consistently making choices that support your body. So you’re feeling your best at every stage of life.

Research consistently shows that the lifestyle choices we make today influence our risk of developing conditions such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, osteoporosis and cognitive decline later in life. They also influence how energetic, mobile and independent we remain as we age.

💚 Your future self is being built by today’s habits. One day you’ll meet your future self...Will they thank you for the choices you’re making today?

Your liver performs over 500 vital functions every single day… yet most of us rarely think about it.
🔸Did you know that around 1 in 4 adults may have fatty liver disease, often without any obvious symptoms. Your liver isn’t just responsible for “detoxification.” It’s involved in:
✔️Blood sugar regulation
✔️Cholesterol metabolism
✔️Hormone balance
✔️Digestion through bile production
✔️Vitamin storage
✔️Energy production

🔸One of the most fascinating areas of research is the gut–liver axis. Everything absorbed from your digestive system passes directly to your liver, meaning your gut health can have a huge influence on liver function.

🔸The good news is early fatty liver can often be improved through nutrition and lifestyle changes—without expensive detoxes or restrictive cleanses.

🔸I’ve supported many clients with fatty liver, reflux, digestive symptoms, gall stones, raised cholesterol and metabolic health concerns by addressing the underlying causes rather than chasing quick fixes.

🔸Read my latest blog to learn more about fatty liver.

If your weekly food shop looks exactly the same every week... this post is for you 🛒
Many of us eat on autopilot.
The same meals
The same snacks
The same drinks
But a healthy diet isn’t just about avoiding certain foods—it’s about variety.
The more variety we introduce, the more nutrients, flavours and beneficial plant compounds we can enjoy.
One of my favourite parts of being a Nutritional Therapist is discovering new products, creating recipes and helping clients find healthy foods that fit their lifestyle.

Think of food like travel. The more you explore, the more you discover.
Your body and your taste buds deserve more than the same old routine 🗺️🍓🥑

Your body doesn’t need a beige diet.
It needs colour
It needs variety
It needs nourishment
Every colour in nature brings different nutrients that support your energy, gut health, hormones, immunity and overall wellbeing.

The question is...
🌈 How colourful was your plate today?

Many of the health topics I write about for my clients can be found on my website blog: www.synergynutrition.co.uk

June is a reminder that nature works in seasons.
🌅 Sunrises arrive a little earlier
🌅 Evenings stretch a little longer
🌴 Growth happens quietly beneath the surface before we ever see it

Our health is often the same. Energy isn’t rebuilt overnight.
Hormones don’t rebalance in a week and a resilient body is created through small daily habits that compound over time.

This month, focus less on doing more and more on restoring yourself.
Nourish your body.
Sleep deeply.
Get outside.
Slow down when needed.
Because the goal isn’t simply to get through the day.
It’s to have the energy to enjoy it.
Happy June ☀️💛
