Singing Mamas Fareham

Singing Mamas Fareham Singing for wellbeing. Women’s naturalist singing group, no sheet music, no auditions. Mental health

28/06/2026

A dip in the sea with fellow Singing Mamas leaders to round off a week of scorching heat, BBQs, days off school, and community living.

Weeks like this remind me that our mental health is deeply connected to how we come together, how we make space for one another, and how we rebuild the villages we were never meant to live without.

It also reminds me that connection rarely arrives by accident. Sometimes it means stepping outside our comfort zone, saying yes to the invitation, starting the conversation, or being the one to reach out. Friendships don’t always happen overnight, but they do grow when we’re brave enough to show up.

I am so incredibly blessed. 💛

🧡 When you let music into your life, every day can be a musical.

Did you ever dream of being in a musical when you were little?

I used to wonder why everyone in musicals seemed so happy. Why do they burst into song? Why do they smile when they sing?

This video was completely unplanned.

My house is currently a building site, and there are tons of paint amongst the rubbish. The rain started falling on it, creating the most beautiful rhythmic sound. Before I knew it, I was singing. A song about rain. A little moment of music sparked by an ordinary Monday morning.

That’s one of the things I love most about inviting music into everyday life.

You don’t need a stage.
You don’t need an audience.
You don’t even need a “good” reason.

Music can meet you wherever you are. Even in the rubbish.

When music becomes part of your day, you’re in charge of it. You choose when it starts. You choose when it ends. You choose whether it’s a full-throated singalong in the kitchen or a quiet hum while you fold laundry.

And sometimes, when life feels heavy, music doesn’t make the rain stop.

It simply helps us learn how to sing in it.

Hey mama, how would you describe this feeling?

A month ago I was lucky enough to attend a women’s singing circle with a room full of Singing Mamas leaders and trainees. I decided to take Rory with me and, if I’m honest, I carried a few nerves about how the day might feel for him.

The hall was beautiful. Sun pouring in. Tables covered in dishes everyone had brought to share. Warm voices. Warm food. Warm people.

And then this moment happened.

Rory spent most of the session playing just outside the circle, coming and going in his own way, as he needed to. But during one particular song (‘hold you in love’ written and shared by Sarah Matcham Singing Mamas leader) he chose to come in.

He climbed onto my knee and lay there quietly.

Watching the women’s faces.
Listening to the sound.
Taking it all in.

You could feel him absorbing it.

At the end of the song there were tears. It felt incredibly special to witness; not just as part of the group, but alongside my son.

Anyone who knows us knows life can sometimes feel like the strongest of storms.
And this felt like the opposite of that.

Stillness. Connection. Safety. Belonging.

This is the power of music.
Just voices meeting nervous systems exactly where they are.

If you ever wonder whether Singing Mamas is for you… this is why it matters.

The calm.
The connection.
The co-regulation.

Yesterday was such a joy!

To meet in the sunshine with other Singing Mamas Leaders and share songs and connection.

I can’t wait to bring Singing Mamas back to Fareham in a couple of months… who thinks we need a few pop ups in the mean time 🤔

Singing Mamas is about mama.
And baby.

It sits somewhere in the middle. 🧡

Your baby is welcome exactly as they are.
Feeding. Sleeping. Crying. Crawling.
No one minds. No one shushes you.

But this isn’t just a baby group.

It’s your voice in your chest.
Your lungs filling properly for the first time all week.
Your shoulders dropping.
Your nervous system softening.

Your baby feels it.
The rhythm.
The vibration.
The safety in your sound.

We sing to them.
And we sing for you.

Because when a mama feels held,
a baby feels it too. 🧡

Come sit in the middle with us.

Coming back to Fareham this spring!!!

Seeing tributes for James Van Der Beek today made me think: life is short but checking yourself doesn’t have to be scary.

Classic Dawson’s Creek era energy + serious adult reminder:

– B***s checked?
– Prostate check talked about?
– Smear due?
– New or changed mole?

Let’s treat prevention like self-care, not fear.
Today is a sad day. Sending love to James family and anyone affected by loss

If your nervous system is fried and your child’s is louder than ever, try this.

I’m singing while regulating my SEND household and explaining what to look for so you can do the same.
This isn’t about calming children down.
It’s about bringing them with you.

Voice is powerful.
Presence is powerful.
You are powerful, even on the hard days.

Why not save this post to come back to and sing along with me next time you need some co-regulation 🧡

✨ Full Moon Reflections ✨

I covered a Singing for Wellbeing group today in the most gorgeous space in Bosham. Such a calm, soulful venue with a beautiful ethos.

It was all very last-minute, a friend of a friend needing someone to step in. So before I knew it, I was flying up the motorway with a flask of tea and a potential playlist rattling round my head.

That same friend reminded me how special it is to be able to hold space for others at short notice. Sometimes my scattiness, my ADHD energy, really is a superpower; helping me adapt, connect, and show up when someone needs it most.

So tonight, under this glowing moon that keeps showing up in all her phases, I’m honouring that… the beauty of showing up imperfectly, and the quiet power of being exactly who we are. 🌕

We sang this song today. It felt fitting, though my soul longed to sing it to the moon herself… 🧡

Beautiful moon, how you glow in the night;
Steadfast provider of comforting light.
Waxing and waning yet steadfast and true,
May I be more like you.

By the wonderful Emily Godfree Connor, a Singing Mamas leader herself; and I was lucky enough to learn it from her, so I hope I did it justice. ✨
