🌿 As summer comes to an end…

The kids are going back to school, routines are starting again, and life can suddenly feel busy.

It’s easy to put yourself at the bottom of the list, so why not create a little reminder to make time for yourself too? 💚

A Self-Care Jar is a simple way to have a reminder of the things that help you feel better when you’re stressed, tired or just having one of those days.

It could be a cup of tea, a walk, your favourite music, reading a few pages of a book, or simply taking some time to do absolutely nothing.

Because when life gets busy, self-care is often the first thing we forget.

And if things feel a little harder than usual, you don’t have to deal with it all on your own. If you’d like some support, I’m here to listen. 🌿

Are you also wondering how on earth that happened and when? 😅

Literally all the feels. All at once. It’s safe to say that this is an emotionally charged time. Whether your kids are back at school, starting primary, secondary, GCSEs, A levels, uni or not returning to school, I see you.

It’s normal to rue the end of the joys unique to summer - line dried washing, long hours of daylight, not needing a jacket, shapeless mornings.

It’s normal to crave space, quiet, solitude, the option of solo tasking.

It’s normal to be ready for a return to routine but to also feel a pang of grief for what that means - less time together, other people caring for your child, less control over their safety and wellbeing.

It’s normal to dread waking children hours before they’re ready to be awake let alone learn.

It’s normal to be stressed by the volume of school/work/life admin.

It’s normal to be both excited about the new year vibe of Sept but also be needled by it. (Bookmark this for a reminder that the only September challenge you need is to replenish after summer)

How are you feeling? What have I missed? Here to validate you. We all need to feel understood and it also helps to know you’re not alone in it. 💚

🌿 How often do you say “I’m fine” when the truth is that you’re anything but?

Maybe you’ve become good at carrying on, smiling and getting through the day. Maybe you don’t want to feel like a burden.

But underneath, you’re exhausted. You’re holding everything together by a thread, trying not to let anyone see how much you’re struggling. You want to cry, your mind won’t switch off and inside you’re screaming for a break, yet you keep going.

I want you to know that you don’t always have to hold it all together. 🌱

You deserve a space where you can be honest about how you’re really feeling - without judgement and without having to minimise it or explain it perfectly.

You can simply come as you are. 💚

And if you’re ready to stop saying “I’m fine” when you’re not, I’m here to listen.

🌿 Always learning. Always growing.

A little glimpse into my life as a counsellor - my laptop, my notebook and a little sunshine. ☀️📖

As a counsellor, I’m required to complete regular CPD (Continuing Professional Development) to keep my knowledge and skills up to date. But for me, learning is more than a requirement. I genuinely enjoy discovering new ideas, reflecting and continuing to grow in the work I do.

And perhaps there’s something in that for you too.

You don’t have to have everything figured out. Life is a process of learning, changing and growing - sometimes through the things we choose and sometimes through the things we never expected. 🌱

So wherever you are right now, be gentle with yourself. You’re still learning. You’re still growing. And you don’t have to do it all at once. 💚

If you’re finding things difficult and would like some supportive space to talk, I’m here.
