Probably one of our most frequently asked questions is:
“So, what are the hats for?!”
While it might seem confusing to wear a thick hat in a hot room, it actually acts as a thermal insulator. Because hot air rises, the temperature near the ceiling of a sauna is much hotter than near the floor, meaning your head is exposed to the most intense heat.
The pocket of air between the top of your head and the inside of the hat isn’t as hot as the air outside of it. This helps keep your head cool, helping you stay cooler for longer meaning you also feel the benefits of sauna for longer.
They are made from felt, or wool, sometimes even linen, and this insulation also traps in moisture and helps protect your scalp and hair from the intense heat.
It is still important however, to listen to your body, and step out whenever you need.
They aren’t for everyone, but one things for sure… everyone looks fabulous wearing one! 🔥
