A little bit of how Music4confidence has evolved
❤️ 14 YEARS OF MUSIC4CONFIDENCE — AND WHAT A JOURNEY IT HAS BEEN! ❤️🎶
Sometimes you start something without ever knowing just how far it will take you.
For me, Music4confidence probably started way back in 2003 when I became a support worker and still am today!!
I was working for a company called Community Care Options, and I asked the manager if I could take my guitar in and do a little bit of music for an hour.
Just one hour.
But that one hour turned into something I could never have imagined.
The music grew into a full eight-hour day of music, and we saw incidents within the workplace reduce by 85%. It showed me just how powerful music could be — not just for entertainment, but for bringing people together, creating happiness and changing the atmosphere around them.
I carried on doing this for eight years.
I then spoke to the managers and suggested, “Why don’t we take this outside the company and let other people from around Bolton experience it too?”
Unfortunately, they weren’t interested.
But I was.
I believed in what music could do.
So I made the decision to go part-time and start creating my own fun music sessions.
And this is where another very important part of the story begins.
My godparents believed in me. ❤️
They knew how much I loved music. They knew how passionate I was about helping people and creating something fun and positive.
They saw the potential in my idea and kindly gave me a small loan to help me get started.
I promised I would pay them back — and I did.
We started with just three taster sessions at Redbridge Studios in Bolton.
And then something happened…
Music4confidence took off. 🚀🎶
What started with me, my guitar and an idea has grown into years of singing, dancing, games, quizzes, competitions, laughter, friendships and unforgettable memories.
And now here we are in 2026.
Still here.
Still playing music.
Still making people smile.
Still watching people who may have lacked confidence get up and sing.
Still seeing people dance who perhaps never thought they would.
Still bringing people together.
And that, for me, is what Music4confidence is all about.
❤️ It’s not just a music session.
It’s about confidence.
It’s about friendship.
It’s about belonging.
It’s about giving people a place where they can be themselves, have fun and feel valued.
When I look back at that first hour in 2003, I never could have imagined where it would lead.
One guitar.
One idea.
A little bit of belief.
And a lot of love for music.
14 years of Music4confidence… and we’re still going! 🎶❤️
To everyone who has supported me, joined a session, sung a song, danced, played a game, laughed with us or simply walked through the door and given it a try…
