Hi i’m Sophie,

A therapist at Rise Therapy Centre, and I’m passionate about creating a safe, warm and completely non-judgemental space where you can feel comfortable being yourself.

I know that reaching out for therapy can feel like a really big step. You might not know exactly what you need, or even where to start — and that’s okay. You don’t need to have the right words or everything figured out. We can take it one step at a time, together.

My aim is to make therapy feel approachable, supportive and tailored to you. Whether you’re going through a difficult time, feeling overwhelmed, or simply want some space to understand yourself better, I’d love to hear from you.

If you’ve been thinking about reaching out, this could be your sign.

Feel free to get in touch for a chat or to find out more about how I can support you

Hello, I’m Sophie

I’m an Integrative Therapist based in Feering, Colchester, and I also offer online therapy sessions.

I work with a range of areas, and therapy can support you through many of life’s challenges, whether you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck, low in confidence, navigating relationship difficulties, or simply needing space to make sense of things.

I believe therapy should be a space where you can bring all parts of yourself, the messy, uncertain, emotional, hopeful, guarded, or overwhelmed parts, without fear of judgement. A space where you can laugh, cry, reflect, and be met with warmth, compassion, and understanding.

My aim is to offer a safe and supportive space where you feel heard, accepted, and able to explore whatever is going on for you at your own pace.

If you’re considering therapy and would like to find out more, please feel free to get in touch

Name It to Tame It

When emotions feel overwhelming, try putting them into words.

Instead of saying:
I'm falling apart.

Try:
"I'm noticing that I'm feeling anxious."
"I'm feeling disappointed right now."
"I'm feeling overwhelmed because I have a lot on my mind."

Simply naming an emotion can help reduce its intensity and create a little distance between you and what you're feeling.

Remember: Feelings are temporary—they're information, not instructions.

Pause. Name the feeling. Take one small step forward.

Save this post for the days when emotions feel bigger than you, and share it with someone who might need the reminder.

Morning with me as a therapist

The day starts with a dog walk and and a drive listening to some old school classics.

When i arrive , I freshen up the rooms, make the space feel calm and welcoming, and get everything ready for the day ahead.

A few moments to reset, review notes, sip my coffee, and prepare to hold space for my clients.

☕Join us on Monday 6th July at Rise Therapy Centre!

It's Sophie's birthday 🥳, so we're celebrating by opening our doors for a Charity Coffee & Cake Afternoon from 12:45pm–2:00pm

Everyone is welcome – whether you're a local business, work nearby, or simply fancy a chat. Come with a friend or come alone.

We'll provide the tea, coffee and cakes. In return, we're asking for a voluntary donation, with every penny going to Mind. Even better, Rise Therapy Centre will match every donation we receive, doubling the support for this fantastic charity.

We'd love to see some familiar faces and meet some new ones too. Pop in, say hello, enjoy some cake and help us raise money for a great cause.☕🍰

Please share with your network, let's see how much money we can raise and how much cake we can eat

People come to therapy for many different reasons.

Some are navigating anxiety, stress, grief, or relationship challenges.

Others want to build confidence, understand themselves better, break unhelpful patterns, or simply have a space where they can speak openly without judgment.

Therapy can help by offering support, perspective, and practical tools to manage life's difficulties.

It can increase self-awareness, improve relationships, strengthen coping skills, and create opportunities for healing and growth, in a judgement free space.

You don't have to wait until things feel unbearable to seek support.

Therapy isn't just about surviving difficult times—it's also about thriving, growing, and becoming more connected to yourself.

Whatever your reason, your story matters, and you don't have to navigate it alone. 🤍

The way we speak to ourselves matters.

As a therapist, I often remind clients that our inner critic is rarely kind, fair, or balanced. It can be harsh, demanding, and quick to present opinions as facts. But thoughts are not facts. They are mental events that can be influenced by our experiences, fears, and beliefs.

The difficulty is that the thoughts we repeatedly tell ourselves can shape how we feel. When our internal dialogue is dominated by self-criticism, shame, or doubt, it can impact our confidence, mood, and overall wellbeing.

Learning to notice these patterns is the first step. The next is asking: Would I speak to someone I love this way?

Self-compassion isn't about ignoring our struggles or pretending everything is okay. It's about responding to ourselves with the same understanding, patience, and encouragement we so freely offer others.

Your inner voice matters. Make sure it's one that helps you heal, not one that keeps you hurting.

How are you speaking to yourself today?
