Choosing the right scar therapist is so important — because treating a scar is never just about the scar, it’s about you and your journey♥️
When you’re deciding who to trust with your treatment it’s really important you look around and find someone who suits you for the below reasons:
✨ Someone you trust
Scar therapy often involves close, hands-on work and conversations about your body and experiences. Feeling safe and comfortable with your therapist allows you to fully relax and get the most from your treatment, tears are always welcome in my treatment 🫶🏼
✨ A lymphatic specialist
Scars can affect the lymphatic system, leading to swelling, tightness, and slow healing. A therapist trained in lymphatic work understands how to support the body’s natural healing processes and reduce congestion around the scar. Often these two treatments end up merging together too which leads to better results!
✨ Experience with many types of scars
Every scar is different — surgical scars, C-section scars, burns, injury scars, cosmetic surgery scars, and more. A therapist with a wide range of experience can tailor treatment specifically to your scar and your body with a better understanding or complications that come with scars.
✨ A holistic understanding of the body
Scars don’t just affect the skin. They can influence movement, posture, nerves, fascia, and circulation. The right therapist looks at the whole picture, not just the surface! If your therapist only looks at you in lying, find someone else.
✨ Education and empowerment
Great scar therapists don’t just treat you — they teach you how to care for your scar at home, understand what your body is doing, and support your long-term healing.
The most important thing is you walk out feeling physically better but most importantly you walk out feeling listened too and recognised! If we can have a giggle in your treatment too then I’ve hit the nail on the head!
