Over the last few weeks, three words have been going around my mind whilst I've been settled in my treatment room.

Three words that I feel apply to life as much as the space that I offer to you.

🌸 Intention - working and living with purpose
🌸 Flow - movements connecting
🌸 Rest - that moment where everything stops

All three elements have always formed part of my treatments but lately they have seemed even more important.

Learning reiki helped me understand the power behind intention - the settling in during treatments, the power of the conversation before.

Working through the holistic massage course has meant that I've worked harder on connecting movements, and it's having a positive impact across all my treatments.

Most of my treatments include an element of rest beyond the obvious that you encounter during and after your time with me. But there's the element that you may not be as aware of - the pause over a certain reflex or area of tension. The focus of energy with the intention behind it.

All elements working together to provide you with the best possible experience and outcomes.

All elements needed for balance.

Chapter 9

As we slip into the "ber" months, a gentle reminder that it's okay to shed in order to grow.

I've been seeing lots of reminders lately about beauty and new beginnings after destruction, and being a person who has loved the imagery of the phoenix for as long as I can remember, feel even more drawn to the idea of accepting that you must lose some things in order to become the best version of self.

The other day, I wrote about new beginnings at this time of the year and I'm sure this is a hangover from my own school days but I feel like the pressure of "new year, new you" is so much less now. More of an opportunity.

So, this September I'm inviting in the opportunity to snuggle down in warm, comforting fabrics, having more cuddles with the kids and discovering what I need to shed in order to continue to move forwards.

I cannot believe the summer holiday is almost over - just a few more days until the children are back in school and I can return to more normal business hours.

I don't know about you, but I always find that my self care drops off a little over the longer holidays - with still relatively young children, I find that they need me intensely at times (especially my youngest) and this means less time to focus on my everyday activities that help keep me in check.

I've always tried to add in small daily practices to manage my wellbeing but I've definitely missed the daily school run for the exercise element and outdoor time.

September always feels like an opportunity for a new start to me - most people use the new year to make changes, but the start of the school year has always felt more important in a way (and this was even the case when I was a child).

So, as we head into the "ber" months, why not see this as your sign to add in some self care and book in to see how I can help support you and your wellbeing.

Feedback like this makes all the agonising over which course to do, and the journey that comes with it, so worthwhile.

I’ve always tried to make sure I’m meeting the needs of the ladies who come and see me. And when I see a gap, I want to learn, understand and find a way to fill it.

Doing a course in holistic massage pushed me in so many ways, but comments like this are exactly why I did it.

I’m still finding my flow and figuring out how holistic massage fits within my practice and meets your needs, without diluting the work I already do.

But it seems to be working.

Flow.
Stillness.
Connection.
Grounding.

Key elements in gently nudging your body towards a reset.

A week away was just what was needed and Norfolk didn't disappoint - I couldn't believe how lucky we were with the weather!

Today I was back to seeing clients after an extra pause in treatments for an unexpected 15 hours in A&E. A huge thank you to the clients I had to cancel for your understanding and patience.

So it was doubly nice to be back to some normality, although I'm not going to lie, a little piece of me is yearning to be back at the beach.

I have a few weekend appointments between now and September so please message me to see how I can help.

Room set up for one out of three lovely clients booked in to see me today and a moment for me to pause and take a breath myself.

It's so important when treating others to ensure that I am grounded too so I always take a moment to sit in my space, check in with myself and see where I'm holding tension. And of course, there is clearing the energy in the room and some grounding between clients.

Today consisted of a 2 hour treatment providing holistic massage and reflexology, followed by a one hour relaxing back, neck and scalp massage rounded off with welcoming a new client in for a holistic facial.

I will never get tired of giving women a moment to pause and sink into the couch knowing that they have a space where they can rest.

Do you need a moment?

Some days you just need to stop, let go and put your trust in someone else.

It's no secret that I struggle with self care - a very long history of putting others first means that I find this exceptionally hard and (if I'm being totally honest) the guilt I feel when I do put myself first is huge.

What's even harder is finding that person that you trust to let go of everything you're holding.

But when you do, oh the magic. I've had a couple of appointments with an osteopath over the last week having had a bit of a break away (see above notes on not putting myself first!) and honestly they've been tough, but worth it.

Finding a therapist who understands what you need, and has the energy to ground themselves and you through shifts in energy is priceless. Chloe at Dragon Osteopaths is that person to me - she sees my needs and works through them.

I've definitely come away feeling lighter and a little less twisted and out of sync than I was.

So I know how important your time is; how you need someone to see you and understand what you need, even when you don't necessarily know it yourself.

That's why I spend my time getting to know you. It's why I take my time when you walk into my space. It's why I don't rush things and pay attention to every little detail.

If this sounds like you; message me to see how I can help. I know that first step is hard but it will absolutely be worth it!

In the middle of lockdown, I quietly set about trying to change my future.

I signed up to learn reflexology the December before covid, hoping to dive headlong into learning something new. Instead, I juggled working in a high level care environment with zoom calls, theory and assignments.

By the time we got to august, I was worried that I'd hate the actual treatment, but as we sat in our tutors garden and got "hands on" for the first time, I knew it would all be okay.

There's something a little bit magical about reflexology that words can't necessarily explain. A peaceful and restful reset is encouraged and welcomed in the most gentle way.

I always find it hard to explain how reflexology works, but I'm learning that I don't necessarily need to know why something works - I just have to trust that it does.

The benefits are so much more than what I'm allowed to write, but comments from clients and the fact that they choose to come back time and again is proof enough.

If you're interested in how reflexology can help, message me for a chat.
