When I was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, I panicked and decided to put my business on hold. But it felt like I lost a part of my identity and having to say "I USED to be a wedding planner, but had to halt my business" felt horrid. It was one more thing cancer had taken away from me.

Little did I know that fate had other plans. Last month, I was approached by the most wonderful family searching for a planner for their daughters wedding next June. Having seen my last Instagram post, they've known about my diagnosis from the beginning. When I saw that they'd seen my post, I thought all was lost. You can only imagine the tears that receiving the following email from the brides mum caused:

"I was incredibly moved by your recent Instagram post. While I was saddened to read of your cancer diagnosis, I was equally inspired by your strength, grace, and commitment to continue doing what you love under such challenging circumstances. You are truly an inspiration, and I deeply admire your resilience and passion."

Once I got over being so blown away, conversations continued, and last week, I was overjoyed when they decided to proceed with me as their planner.

I'm therefore delighted to announce that I'll be back at my very favourite venue in June along with other venues for a rehearsal dinner, welcome party and post-wedding brunch. It's going to be epic!

It’s with a heavy heart that I share something I never thought I’d have to.

In January, while on a family holiday, I found a lump in my breast. Things spiralled quickly, and on 1st April, I was diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer. It has spread to my lymph nodes and lungs. It’s stage 4 and incurable.

The moment I heard the news, I went into full planner mode: researching, calling experts, chasing every lead. I’ve never accepted “no” for an answer and I won’t start now. That determination got me onto a clinical trial and after 8 weeks of chemo and immunotherapy, my first scan shows I’m responding really well. It’s not a cure, the aim is simply to slow the cancer and, so far, it’s working. I’ll take every win I can get.

The prognosis is incredibly tough. So tough, I can’t even bring myself to write it here. I’m sharing this so directly because well-meaning words like “you’ll beat this” or “you’ll come out stronger” are painful when they don’t reflect what lies ahead. But I will say this: Google and the stats don't know how stubborn I am so screw you stats!

Right now, my focus is where it matters most - my health, my family, and especially my husband and beautiful baby girl. That’s why I’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to pause new bookings. I hope, in time, to return to the industry in some way – maybe supporting other planners or taking on select projects. So please don’t delete my contact details just yet.

Since launching in 2016, building the business has been a joy. Balancing personal challenges, including 6 years of IVF and the blessings of pregnancy and motherhood, with professional ambitions meant the business didn’t always grow as fast as I’d hoped but everyone’s journey is different – comparison is the thief of joy is a message I want to give to all those building a business on their own (especially in the smoke and mirrors era of Instagram!). Looking back, I never imagined I’d win awards, plan the weddings I have, or become a recommended planner at iconic venues like the Natural History Museum. It’s a legacy I hope my daughter will be proud of.

For now, thank you to every couple, supplier and friend who has supported my lovely little business over the years. The industry is full of creativity and collaboration and working with you all has truly been an absolute honour! I’m praying to return to the industry, somehow, soon.

As a wedding planner, it’s not often that we get the chance to work with our couples twice. But every so often, we’re lucky enough to experience the magic of a second celebration, and that’s exactly what happened with Helen and Alex.

They first entrusted me with an intimate micro-wedding during the height of the pandemic - such a special, heartfelt day. A year later, they were back, this time ready to celebrate with all their friends and family. When they told me how excited they were to work together again, I couldn't help but feel a deep sense of gratitude and joy.

It’s moments like these that remind me why I love what I do.

TRADITIONS// Some traditions, like these gorgeous bridal bangles, stand the test of time, and some? Well, they fade away - and for good reason!

One of the most powerful bridal entrances I’ve seen was a bride walking herself down the aisle, owning every step with confidence. And let’s talk about speeches - why should grooms have all the fun? My brides are taking the mic, and I love it. Mixed-gender wedding parties? Absolutely. A bouquet toss? Can’t remember the last time I saw one. And don’t get me started on favours and receiving lines… let’s just say, no one’s missing them!

BESPOKE STATIONERY// This beautiful stationery suite consisting of ceremony programmes, es**rt cards, personalised menu cards, signage, agate slices and many other aspects was full of personal touches.

We produced this custom-designed suite featuring a delicate line drawing of the venue, tying the paper goods to the venue’s iconic architecture. Es**rt cards helped guests find their seats in the most timely manner - so important at a venue with such a tight schedule - and menus were a conversation piece in themselves, detailing each guest’s meal selection alongside fascinating facts about the museum and its treasures – a well-designed and thoughtful nod to the couple’s love for curiosity and discovery.

Adding a personal, handmade element, a friend of the bride crafted exquisite agate slice place names, a subtle nod to the museum’s fossil collection. These delicate keepsakes were a hit among guests, blending elegance with the couple’s playful theme.

Your stationery has a hugely important role in, not only being beautiful, but assisting with creating a smooth, efficient and elevated guest experience.

I'm wrapped up in wintery vibes as the snow is falling here in Hampshire, and it’s bringing back memories of Helen and Alex’s stunning winter wedding last year in Surrey.

While many planners are mainly swamped in the summer, I get to work with couples all year long - from sunny marquee weddings to cosy stately home celebrations with roaring fireplaces. I honestly love the variety!
