What a couple of days ahead in Fleetwood!

Tomorrow is the Official Fleetwood Carnival, the Summer Craft Fair with Friends of Fleetwood Library, the Great Get Together - Community Litter Pick with the Fleetwood Wombles and an Armed Forces Parade from the Lower Lighthouse at 11am.

On Sunday there's an early start for Wreck Trek 2026 supporting RNLI Fleetwood (today is the last chance to buy your tickets) and the second Fleetwood Jumble Trail of the year from 10am - 4pm.

Plus regular weekend events Fleetwood Promenade parkrun and the Fleetwood indoor and outdoor car boot/tabletop/market

Thank you to the members of TALKING MEN for the invitation to join them yesterday evening.

The group was formed over 3 years ago by players of Fleetwood Town Flyers Football Club as a safe space for men to chat over a brew, listen to and support each other and signpost to other community groups and services.

They meet on Thursdays from 6pm - 8pm at the Verona Hall, Thornton Cleveleys and within a few minutes of joining them, it was obvious that strong friendships have been formed and the group is making a real difference to the wellbeing of the members.

While there is some disruption to the trams along Lord Street, a replacement shuttle bus service is in place to help people access businesses, organisations and the open spaces at the north end of the Town including Healthier Fleetwood at The HUB Fleetwood.

This will leave from Elm Street, next to the Fisherman's Walk tram stop every 15 minutes between 10am and 3pm on market days - Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday until further notice.

The service will stop on North Albert Street for the market and also at Fleetwood Ferry bus top, then return to Elm Street.

Tai chi is a great activity to support your health and wellbeing including improved balance, strength, flexibility, stress reduction, and enhancing your cognitive function.

David has been hosting a popular group at Ymca Lofthouse on London Street for some time, so popular in fact that he started a second session for beginners - the date and time for this have just changed.

If you are new to Tai Chi pop along on Thursdays from 12.30pm to 1.30pm to give it a go. For the more experienced, the original class continues on Mondays from 10.30am to 11.30am. Your first session is FREE then it's £3 per week.

There's also a Tai Chi class at Larkholme community centre on Monday afternoons, part of the venue's varied programme of groups and activities.

Earlier today Sophie from Healthier Fleetwood joined community partners at the SEND Roadshow event in Fleetwood Library. She enjoyed some great conversations and came back with a wide range of leaflets and guides on the support available to children with special educational needs and disabilities. We have these available at our Information Centre, The HUB Fleetwood.

You can also contact the services direct and a great way to start is the Wyre Family Hub team, based at the library. Visit their page on Facebook or call 01253 741117to find out more.

Also attending the event today was the Wyre Youth Zone team who offer support and host events and activities for ages 13 -19 years, up to 25 years with SEND.

Their TALK ZONE advisors are ready to listen to young people about the challenges they are facing - at this time of year that could be the additional stress of sitting exams.

With the opening of the World Cup we're pleased to share some of the ways to enjoy the beautiful game in and around Fleetwood.

For youngsters there's football for fun and plenty of opportunities to start learning skills with Fleetwood Town Juniors F.C, Fleetwood Gym JFC and Fleetwood Town Community Trust ... the latter also host pan-disability football sessions.

Those leaving school and wanting to make a career in sport, on or off the pitch, checkout Fleetwood Town Community Sports College.

Fleetwood Town Wrens Ladies FC have competitive teams playing within the national football pyramid and there's Fleetwood Town Flyers Football Club, celebrating 10 years of walking football for men aged 50 and over.

A shout too for Smile FC, a group of people doing what they love, raising money and awareness for charities and good causes through football.
