In Seasonal Yoga and Traditional Chinese Medicine, late summer belongs to the earth element - a gentle pause between the expansive energy of summer and the inward turn of autumn. 🍂
Earth energy is grounding, steady and nourishing, encouraging us to feel rooted and centred. It invites us to gather our energy, reflect on what has unfolded, and prepare for the months ahead. 🧘♀️
The stomach and spleen organs are associated with this season, representing not only digestion and food, but how we take in, process and assimilate our thoughts, feelings and experiences. Too much thinking, worrying or mental clutter can leave us feeling unsettled in the gut, when we are able to process things with ease, helped by movement and breath, we may be able to gain a sense of feeling more balanced and nourished.
Today, we explored a grounding, centering practice, working into the stomach and spleen meridians.
I’m especially grateful for the wonderfully understanding and compassionate yogis today - and who join me each week to make these sessions possible. Thank you 💛
