It’s not a complete goodbye.

I will still be documenting my journey within this wonderful industry, just in a different location! So I shall be changing this profile to my personal-professional page in the coming weeks.

So whilst I was very much miss Kent + connections I have made, I am very much looking forward to being welcomed into the thriving Bristol collective 🤌🏻

I do get that not everyone can afford regular massages + it is a ‘luxury’ from a financial standpoint for some people.

The narrative I am trying to squash, is that massage is not viewed as a way to regulate your nervous system. Regulation is not a luxury. It is foundational self care.

There are lots of different tools to regulate, but massage is the only tool where you get skin-to-skin touch, releasing oxytocin. Your brain is literally telling you, you are loved + held. And receiving it from someone steeped in the knowledge of what relaxes + releases tension in the best way 🤌🏻

Give yourself some love + book a massage

Last post about this went wild, so let’s see about this one…

Yes, this is all from personal experience. And from the response received on the ‘Client Edition’ carousel a few weeks back, it seems it’s a persistent issue with hundreds of therapists.

This is not what we sign up for. We come into this job wanting to help people regulate their nervous systems. Well, how can we hold space for regulation if our container is so dysregulated + dysfunctional?

It is such a shame that the industry is like this, because there is definitely a better approach.

If you are fresh out of college or just finished a massage/facial course, please PLEASE seek advice before making an employment decision. I used to think you should experience working in spas as a ‘right of passage’ or ‘paying your dos’ - I was wrong. So wrong.

Choose your self worth + esteem; search for wellness studios/hubs that pay you commission against treatments or higher than minimum wage. Who enable flexibility + honour therapists rest/recovery. Who actually hold ethical values + not just say they do. Places that have cleaners!?! Or happily pay you overtime for cleaning before + after the working day, rather than expecting you to do it for free. A space for connection + community, over bitchiness + competitiveness.

Until next time…

Retreat season is upon us - who wants to collab?! 🧚🏻‍♀️

So thankful to for asking me to join her retreat, to provide her wonderful guests that extra layer of zen, with my offerings. Eve is an amazing yoga teacher and facilitator, and does retreats a couple times a year - keep your eyes open, I highly recommend!

For anyone who hosts/thinking of hosting retreats, is a magical, picturesque haven on the outskirts of Canterbury, Kent. I would recommend over and over, to both facilitators and guests, as I’ve been lucky enough to experience both sides!

If you are wanting to collaborate on a day/weekend retreat, and want your attendees to reset even deeper, drop me a message!

Not me throwing shade 👀

I feel it is important to share the unspoken truths about the industry + the local spa’s that I have had the unfortunate experience to work in. Spa’s have incredibly outdated narratives + practices.

Wonderfully, a lot of people are waking up to supporting small, independent + local businesses. But a lot of consumers do not realise the toxicity that lies within this particular industry.

Whilst a new spa culture is on the horizon, it is going to be a long journey to phase out the current.

Help support practitioners who actually care + have passion for wellbeing, rather than those who exploit you + care about ‘brands’ over helping people.
