Why Is Pulse Taking Important in Chinese Medicine?
Pulse taking is an important part of a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) consultation. It’s not simply about measuring your heart rate or pulse rate.
I feel the pulse at three different positions on each wrist, and assess qualities such as its strength, depth, rhythm and texture. Each position is traditionally associated with different aspects of the body and its internal systems.
Alongside your symptoms, medical history, tongue, lifestyle and other observations, pulse diagnosis helps me build a more complete picture of your individual pattern of imbalance.
For me, this is one of the things that makes acupuncture so personal. I’m not just treating the symptom; I’m looking at you as a whole person and using all the information available to guide your treatment.
Your pulse provides another valuable piece of information, helping to build a fuller picture of your individual health and wellbeing.
If you would like to book a consultation or treatment with me you can do so via my website. You can also give me a call and I will get back to you as soon as I am able to.
