💜 As we come to the end of our Dementia Awareness Month spotlight, we wanted to finish by highlighting the incredible impact that music can have for people living with dementia. 💜

Music can help spark memories, lift mood, reduce anxiety, encourage connection and bring comfort - even when words may become difficult. 🎶

Today, we’re sharing information about the local Music Café, alongside helpful information on how music can support those living with dementia. We would also like to share some wonderful tips and advice from Lochside Connections about how to be Dementia Friendly.

A huge thank you to everyone who has engaged with our posts throughout the month, shared local resources, and helped keep the conversation around dementia awareness going. 💜

Please feel free to continue sharing any local groups, support services or ideas that may help others in our community.

Keep your eyes peeled for next months Spotlight On…

💜 Dementia Spotlight – Support for Carers 💜

Caring for someone living with dementia can be rewarding, but it can also be emotionally and physically challenging at times. It’s important to remember that carers need support too. 💜

As part of our continuing dementia awareness spotlight, we would like to highlight the fantastic support available from the Angus Carers Centre and local Community Link Workers.

Whether you are caring for a partner, parent, family member or friend, help and advice is available — from emotional support and respite information, to carers groups, practical help and wellbeing activities.

Many people don’t even realise they are classed as a carer, but if you regularly help support someone with their day-to-day life, you are not alone and support is there for you too. 💜

You can find out more here:

Or we have many leaflets in our waiting room too

Please feel free to share this post so that more people in our community know where support can be found. 💜

This May, we’re shining a spotlight on dementia 💙

With Dementia Awareness Week taking place from 18–24 May, we’ll be sharing helpful information, links to charities, and local support services throughout the month.

We’ve also created a display in the practice with a range of resources for patients, families, and carers - please feel free to have a look when you’re in.

We’d love to hear from you too - if there are any local groups, services, or organisations you’d recommend, please share them in the comments so others can benefit.

Let’s work together to raise awareness and support our community 💙
