🎗️ September Spotlight On… Cancer

This September, our Spotlight On Feature is shining a light on cancer - not just one type, but cancer in all of its different forms. 🎗️

There are so many different cancers, & every person’s experience is different. Throughout the month, we’ll be sharing information on spotting signs & symptoms, screening, prevention, treatment, living with & beyond cancer, and most importantly, where to find support.

Our waiting room display is now stocked with information & resources from organisations including Macmillan Cancer Support, Cancer Research UK, Cancer Card & NHS services. There’s information covering different types of cancer, with resources also available in a range of languages. 🌍

We’ll also be shining a light on some fantastic local support groups and organisations here in our community, alongside the larger national charities - because sometimes knowing that there is someone local to talk to can make all the difference. 💚

Whether you’re looking for information for yourself, supporting a loved one, or simply want to know more, please take a look at the resources available in our waiting room or speak to a member of the practice team.

And remember, knowing what’s normal for you & getting changes checked can make a difference. If something doesn’t feel right, don’t ignore it. 🫶

🎗️ This September, let’s talk about cancer, share information, raise awareness & make sure people know that support is there.

📢 Protected Learning Time – Wednesday 2nd September

GP Practices across Tayside are committed to providing the highest quality care for our patients. To support this, practices take part in regular Protected Learning Time (PLT) sessions, allowing training for the whole team.

🗓 On Wednesday 2nd September, most GP practices across Tayside – including ourselves – will be closed for routine appointments from 1pm–6pm while we participate in training.

🚨 Urgent care will be available off site during this time.
The surgery will remain contactable by telephone for URGENT MATTERS ONLY, and any urgent care that cannot wait until we reopen the following morning will be provided off site.

🕘 We will resume normal working hours on Thursday 3rd September.

Thank you for your understanding as we continue to invest in our team and the care we provide to our community 💙

🌟 Why an Advanced Nurse Practitioner?

When you’re offered an appointment with one of our Advanced Nurse Practitioners, you may wonder what this means.

We understand that being offered an appointment with someone other than a GP can feel unfamiliar. But please be reassured that if our reception team offers you an ANP appointment, it is because a they are clinically appropriate for your needs.

Our ANPs are highly experienced, advanced-level clinicians who have undertaken extensive additional education, training and clinical development. They can assess, diagnose, treat and manage a wide range of conditions in the same way a GP would, including prescribing medication, requesting investigations and referring patients to other services when appropriate.

⭐️ So, when we offer you an appointment with an ANP, we are not offering you a lesser alternative to a GP. We are offering you an appointment with a clinician who can manage the same problems and provide the same level of clinical care. ⭐️
