Maltodextrin is an ingredient in packaged foods, often used in products labelled “no sugar” or “sugar-free.”

Did you know it can cause a rapid spike in blood sugar levels? There’s also some research suggesting it might not be great for your gut either.

Some studies show it can thin the gut’s protective mucus layer, the barrier that keeps bacteria where they should be.

There’s also evidence it can change how some bacteria behave, helping them stick around in ways that aren’t exactly helpful, think E. coli.

And overall, it can reduce the diversity of your gut microbiome, which isn’t ideal for long-term health.

The surprising part? It’s still considered safe to use in foods, so it shows up in all sorts of everyday products.

As always, turn the label over.

🌿 Beetroot Peel Tea 🌿

Before tossing your beetroot peels in the bin, turn them into something deeply nourishing instead 🤍
Beetroot peels are naturally rich in iron and contain betalains — antioxidants known to support liver health. As they gently simmer, the water becomes infused with minerals, creating a warming, grounding tea that many people love for skin support and overall nourishment.

For a little extra warmth and digestive support, try simmering your peels with:
✨ Fresh ginger
✨ Cinnamon
✨ Fennel seeds

You can repeat the simmering process a few times to get the most goodness from your peels 🌸
