Good advice 🙏🙌✨️

Feed hay in June?! Oh yes - with this constant, warm, wet, hot, chilly, etc, weather - the grass is so powerful. Feeding some dry forage, helping to mitigate the fluctuating sugar levels, and restricting access to luscious grass, at this time of year, is literally life-saving for British native ponies. They need lots and lots of movement and migration - but not access to rich swards, until the grass seeds and loses its 'poke'.

As the temperature rises this week and the weather gets hotter, please remember to care for wildlife by leaving out a shallow bowl of fresh water for them 💚

There’s a quiet grief many animal people carry when they begin seeing things differently.

Because once you realize how much of traditional animal handling was built around suppression instead of understanding…
you can’t fully unsee it.

You notice how often animals are praised for tolerating discomfort.
How often fear gets labeled as “respect.”
How often shutdown gets mistaken for calmness.

And for a while, it can feel heartbreaking.

But then something beautiful starts happening too.

You begin noticing the tiny signs of aliveness returning.

The horse who starts expressing opinions again.
The dog who becomes playful after years of hypervigilance.
The animal who finally realizes:
“I don’t have to disappear to be safe here.”

That moment changes both lives.

Because animals were never meant to be emotional machines built for human convenience.

They are nations unto themselves.
Full beings.
With inner worlds as rich and meaningful as our own.

And when we stop trying to dominate those worlds…
we get invited into them.

I've had issues sharing on to my Highland Animal Reiki page from my Debbie O'Hara page so apologies if there has been a gap in posts. In future I'll post directly and avoid loss of posts.
Anyway ... ongoing reiki love and light for these two sweethearts and all the patients, staff and associates at Highland Wildlife Rescue 🙏🙌✨️

After your phenomenal support for our Fawn Paddock fundraiser last weekend, we’re over the moon to share an updated photo of our two tiny Roe fawns.

Their beautiful mum, Rowan, was one of several Roe Deer lovingly named with a “jam theme” by Mark and Jacky, who adored watching her raise her youngsters in the gardens around their homes. Over the years she successfully reared:
🦌🦌 2 boys last year
🦌🦌 1 boy and 1 girl the year before
🦌🦌 2 boys the year before that

We are heartbroken that Rowan was killed on the road when these little ones were less than 72 hours old.

Now safely in our care, we’re working hard to keep stress to a minimum, maintain strong feeding routines, and give them a secure outdoor space by day with warm shelter at night while work is underway on their paddock.

CLEMENTINE has made an incredible recovery from her poor condition on arrival — although she stubbornly refuses to move up to a bigger bottle, meaning lots of tiny feeds and frequent mid-feed refills! 🍼🍼🍼🍼

Meanwhile APRICOT guzzles his milk beautifully… provided everything is perfectly quiet and there are absolutely no disturbances whatsoever — including me breathing too loudly 🙊
