🚨 STARTS SOON - REGISTER YOUR INTEREST NOW 🚨

Join our 6 week group Healthier Weight programme starting in September, for anyone who would like to achieve a healthier weight and improve their overall health.

Here's what you need to know:

📅 starts Tuesday 15th September
🕒 from 10:30am to midday
👥 runs for 6 weeks
📍takes place at Frome Medical Practice

We focus on a compassionate, whole-person approach. Instead of crash diets or quick fixes, we explore the many factors that can affect weight.

Weight is complex, and lasting change can take time. Our goal is to help you find an approach that works for your life.

Together, we'll look at sleep, movement, emotional wellbeing, social connection and healthier eating. You'll be supported to make realistic, sustainable changes that can help you manage your weight and improve your health.

The group is open to all Frome Medical Practice patients.

If you’d like to join the group, please complete our online form (linked below or search 'habits for health' on our website) and one of the team will be in touch with you to discuss. Alternatively, call our team on 01373 468368.

‼️ Have you booked your flu or COVID vaccination appointment yet?

We start vaccinating patients at the start of October and we strongly encourage eligible patients to book their vaccine appointments as soon as possible. The sooner you are vaccinated, the sooner you will be protected from serious illness.

Please check with family, friends or neighbours who might have missed this information to see if they've booked yet.

❓How to book?

If you've received a booking link by text or email it has probably expired by now. So instead you can call the practice on 01373 301300 (our special vaccination line).

You do not need to use the National Booking System to book. The national system will not give you the option to book at the practice.

We will be in touch with housebound patients and patients in care homes to arrange your vaccinations.

We are responsible for vaccinating children age 2, age 3 and those who are at clinical risk aged 6 months to under 18. Children from Reception Year to Year 11 are vaccinated by the School Immunisation Team.

❓ Who is eligible?

Flu

➡ Patients aged 65 and over
➡ Patients with certain long term health conditions
➡ Pregnant women
➡ Patients living in care homes
➡ Patients living with someone who has a weakened immune system
➡ Main carers for an older or disabled person or receive a carer’s allowance
➡ All children aged 2 or 3 years old on 31st August 2026, school aged children (reception to year 11), all children in clinical risk groups from 6 months to less than 18 years old

COVID

➡ Patients aged 75 years and over
➡ Residents in a care home for older adults
➡ Patients aged 6 months and over who are immunosuppressed

You don't have to do this alone!

When you're struggling, it's easy to feel like you're the only one.
One of the biggest surprises for people who joined Better Through Nature wasn't just the time spent in nature...
It was discovering they weren't alone.

Over seven weeks, a small group comes together to spend time outdoors, learn practical ways that nature can support wellbeing.
There’s no pressure to do anything, just a welcoming, carefully facilitated space where people can simply be themselves.

"I felt safe. I found a community of people all looking to nature to feel better."

"I felt comfortable and included."
Better Through Nature is run by Better Nature CIC in partnership with Frome Medical Practice.

If you're registered with Frome Medical Practice, the first step is simply to complete our short online form. We'll then arrange to meet you for an informal chat before the course begins.

This week is 'Know Your Numbers' week, a week that aims to raise awareness about knowing what your blood pressure is.

Why is this important?

High blood pressure is a major cause of heart attacks and strokes but usually has no symptoms until it’s too late, which is why it’s known as ‘the silent killer’.

Knowing your blood pressure means you can start making healthy lifestyle changes or start taking medicines if you need them to bring your blood pressure down to a healthy level.

Your blood pressure is very important no matter your age. High blood pressure is not simply a part of growing old. You can take steps to know your numbers and lower them if it’s high no matter how old you are.

For more information visit the Blood Pressure UK website https://www.bloodpressureuk.org/your-blood-pressure/

You can also find information on our website about home blood pressure monitoring, and you can submit your readings via our website too. Head to our 'clinics and services' and scroll down to 'blood pressure'.

We have a self check blood pressure station where you can come and check your blood pressure. You can do this in the practice during practice opening hours. This is by the Information Desk in the practice. The practice also has some blood pressure machines that can be borrowed. Please ask at the Information Desk if you would like to borrow one.
