The Permaculture Garden at 42 Acres is home to a flock of Khaki Campbell ducks, who, along with their chicken neighbours, provide our Medicine Kitchen with daily, fresh eggs.
Guy, who leads growing at 42 Acres, has been evolving the ducks’ habitat to ensure they are fed, watered, and cared for with love and respect. In line with permaculture principles, the ducks not only provide eggs, but also offer high-value fertiliser and help control pests such as slugs.
In this video, you’ll find Guy (with Laurie behind the camera) creating ‘duck hydration stations’, allowing the flock to drink from cups rather than one communal bucket - saving water and creating a cleaner drinking environment! 🦆
