FTWW Fair Treatment for the Women of Wales

FTWW Fair Treatment for the Women of Wales The only patient-led charity in Wales dedicated to achieving health equality for women, girls, and people assigned female at birth.

We Chair the Coalition. Disabled People's Organisation (DPO). Registered charity no. 1191069 This page has been set up to work alongside our closed support group https://www.facebook.com/groups/393110234196590/ . On this page, we aim to post articles about the health services in Wales, pieces discussing gender-based disparities in (global) health care, and updates regarding FTWW's work. FTWW has been set up to empower women living in Wales who feel like they would benefit from practical advice / help / support dealing with the health-services in their locale, irrespective of the conditions (mental or physical) with which they're suffering. At the moment, FTWW's campaigning is focused on benign gynaecological conditions, such as endometriosis and adenomyosis, menopause, recurrent miscarriage, and menstrual wellbeing education, although that does not preclude the many other conditions with which members are living. Our members report struggling to cope with their issues on a daily basis, whilst simultaneously trying to access good care and treatment, something made difficult both as a consequence of their gender - and their location. On the back of this, a fundamental aim of FTWW is to campaign for change in the way 'unwell' women are perceived and treated by society, the medical profession as a whole - and NHS Wales in particular. If any of this sounds like it might be of help / interest to you, please become a member of FTWW by signing-up via our website www.ftww.co.uk or, if you're female, joining our closed FB support group. If you feel like your health problems are often dismissed as being 'all in your head' or you're infuriated at hearing this sentiment directed at your female friends / relatives, then FTWW is the organisation for you! We're not 'mad', we just want 'even'. :-)

It's been a busy and inspiring week for FTWW!

We began the week in Llandrindod Wells, delivering a training session to senior leaders from Llais on the importance of women's health, co-production, and amplifying patient voices.

The session included: an overview of FTWW's work; myth-busting around women's health; information about our DrawingOut project, and a range of interactive activities, including WHINGO (Women's Health Bingo)!

Later in the week, we travelled to Cardiff to attend the Ministerial Summit for Women's Health alongside two FTWW volunteers, Donna and Dee.

The summit was a powerful opportunity to bring lived experience directly to clinicians, policymakers and the media. Together, we shared personal reflections and FTWW calls for women's voices to be at the heart of healthcare design and delivery.

The day highlighted the importance of listening to patients; co-producing services with the people who use them; resourcing the third sector, and recognising that while some pain may be considered "normal", it should never simply be accepted.
We were encouraged to see a continued commitment to strengthening women's health support and progressing the objectives of the Women's Health Plan.

A huge thank you to everyone involved in making these important conversations happen. We look forward to them continuing – watch this space!

Your chance to share what’s important to you when it comes to living with multiple long-term health conditions!

The James Lind Alliance (JLA) brings patients, carers, and clinicians together to identify and prioritise unanswered questions about health topics, so that researchers and funders know what matters most to people who need to use the research in their everyday lives. These collaborations are called Priority Setting Partnerships or PSPs for short – and one has been set up to look at what’s most important for people living with multiple long-term conditions.

The Multiple Long-Term Conditions (MLTC) Priority Setting Partnership has created a survey which they’d like you to complete. Please note that the survey is only available through the medium of English, with a closing date of mid-August. The team is seeking views from people with lived experience, carers, and professionals to help identify future research priorities for care for people living with multiple long-term conditions. If this sounds like you, please do take a look – and please also share widely!

A link to the survey can be found below in the comments.

Thank you very much for your support!..........................................................................................................................
