WithYou in the Borders Offering free, confidential support to people experiencing issues with alcohol & drugs

01/06/2026

Behind our support, there's often a volunteer on hand who cares. Someone who makes walking through our doors for the first time feel a little less daunting. Often someone who's been there themself. Someone who just gets it.

This , we're celebrating the volunteers who show up, day after day, with compassion and dedication to supporting others. Thank you!πŸ’™

Family Peer Support Group – Have Your Say

Do you support a loved one affected by alcohol or drugs? You're not alone.

Scottish Families Affected by Alcohol & Drugs (SFAD) are exploring the development of a new Family Peer Support Group in the Scottish Borders and would like to hear from local families about what would be most helpful.

SFAD are offering support to help establish a local group, including:
βœ… Funding
βœ… Training
βœ… Guidance and ongoing support

This planning session is an opportunity for family members, carers and supporters to share their experiences, discuss what support is currently missing, and help shape a group that meets local needs.

πŸ“… Tuesday 16th June
πŸ•‘ 2:00pm
πŸ“ The Focus Centre, TD1 1DQ

Some of the ideas already raised include:
β€’ Easy access to information about local services and support
β€’ Peer support from people with lived and living experience
β€’ Consistent messages and understanding
β€’ Opportunities to connect with others who "get it"
β€’ Activities and support that aren't solely focused on alcohol and drugs

Whether you're looking for support, want to help others, or simply have ideas to share, your voice matters.

Please scan the QR code on the poster to share your views, or come along to the planning session.

**Together we can create a supportive space for families across the Borders.** πŸ’œ

Hepatitis C doesn't only affect people who inject drugs.

It can affect anyone.

Shared razors. Tattoo equipment. Even toothbrushes. They all carry a risk, and most people who have it don't know.

Be a and get a test today.

As comes to a close, remember: asking for help is a sign of strength.

If drugs or alcohol are impacting your life or mental health, reaching out isn’t a weakness - it’s a step forward.

We’re here all year round, whenever you need us. No judgement, no pressure, just support.πŸ’™

Four days to go.......Lets get James to his target. We cant wait to see James complete his skydive on Sunday πŸ˜†

In 2014, James walked through our doors as a client. In 2022, he became the Community Engagement Coordinator and Recovery Worker for WithYou in the Borders.

Now, on 17 May, he's taking on a skydive to raise money and awareness for the work we do every day.

"For me, recovery started with fear. Jumping into the unknown guilt and shame of both my co***ne addiction and my ADHD. With the right support and equipment, I was able to survive and then thrive." he says.

James’s advice to anyone struggling with drugs or alcohol is simple and heartfelt:

"Reach out, talk to someone and, importantly, believe in yourself.

Your mind is like a parachute. It works best when it's open."
