GP is varied! You need to jump from very different health topics patient to patient, babies to elderly. It makes the job interesting but it also makes it challenging.

This list doesn’t include all the patient admin- blood results, letters, patient requests, referrals etc.

Recent news has revealed that bowel cancer screening engagement is going down! Meaning that people aren’t taking part. Here are some important facts:

1. Bowel cancer is one of the most common cancers in the UK

2. Screening tests aim to pick up cancer early or even before it’s a cancer. The earlier you can pick it up, statistically, the better the outcomes!

3. Bowel cancer screening is a poo sample test, which isn’t glamorous, but it’s necessary and fairly easy to do!

Even if you’re not over 50, it’s good to know about this and encourage anyone you know over 50 to complete screening when they get it through the post!
