Hola ! Happy Saturday Dear Ones š
Iām reading āBrain at Restā in Costa Rica here - correction I was-:)
But the science blew me away that I put the book down and lay in the pool watching the clouds and birds for the rest of the morning.
More on the science later but for now hereās my two tips for living Rest via Escape rest from last year !
Living-Rest vs Escape-Rest: The Lesson I Learned the Hard Way!
Trust me if you donāt build rest into your days, your body will eventually force it on you.
Not just for hours, but for months or in my case years. ā³
The trick is not rely on escape-rest (although epic š) but to do living-rest š
Here are two ways to weave rest into your daily life so you donāt crash:
āø»
1. Take 12 breaths š¬
Before you eat, after you eat, before you open your front door šŖ, before you answer a call š or before you get in the car š.
You choose.
Start with one pause a day and then build to three.
Why?
Breathing is your remote control for your nervous system. Because slow, full breathing actually tells your vagus nerve youāre safe.
That tiny switch lowers blood pressure, eases digestion š„, and literally helps you absorb more nutrients from your food.
2. Keep one chair or spot only for stillness šŖ
Donāt read, donāt meditate, donāt pick up your phone.
Just sit.
Even five minutes is enough.
Just be šæ.
Your brain loves cues ā when you always sit in the same place for stillness, your nervous system learns it as a shortcut to calm.
Studies even show this kind of quiet reset boosts dopamine and clears mental clutter, giving you energy ā” and clarity without needing a nap.
I love my spot at the window in my kitchen watching the birds š¦ and my morning practise ?
Well that is is non negotiable ā but thatās for another post.
How do you do living rest ?
Much love Sharon ###
